Every trade deadline they're connected to some of the better players and I wonder how, since they don't have a highly rated farm. Then, they trade their top spect for a solid player and I think "well, now their farm is even worse!" And the next trade deadline they're still connected to some of the better players. Who fucking knows how

SUNDAY, 10:06am: The Cubs are “strong” in the mix for Chapman, according to Rosenthal. The Dodgers and the previously reported teams have also been in pursuit (Twitterlinks).

Meh...first time I've seen our name linked to him this deadline though

Possibly trying to keep him off the Gnats
Maybe LAD was the " mystery team " they mentioned earlier today

I've always been pro-Chapman, didn't like how that whole thing went down back then.
Understood why they passed, but just hated how as soon as they " agreed to the deal " out comes some shit that was 1-2 months old where he wasn't even charged with anything.
Anyway, not gonna get into all that again, just sayin...Chapman>Kenley, at least for me.
    Fuck Kenley.
If I have to choose between a shoot'em up old west outlaw and a pussy, I'll take my chances with the outlaw.

We get one of them and we better sign him to an extension before FA. I don't want to have two closers and lose both in FA. Chapman would cost more because he won't have a pick attached to him

If they lose both I trust Friedman to figure it out, he's done the job well thus far.
And I want Kenley out anyway

If SF ckocsucker gets him, without the return of Kershaw, which seems with every passing day more remote, our odds fall dramatically to win , imo. Yup.
Stranger things have happened for sure, but for me anyway, it's a real big WTF, since we had him 4 months ago. Odd how mysteriously all the nasty shit why we "couldn't keep him" then seems to have vanished like the dodo, it appears the majority at least, gotta have him back now.
Maybe, as Vinny said in 1988 ( yes...that long ago, it was ), " In a year that was so improbable, the impossible has happened".

    Nah.
    Probably not.

    Meh

SUNDAY,11:03am: The Yankees are dissatisfied with the Nationals’ offers, who are behind at least three other teams (including a mystery club) in the Chapman derby, writes Heyman. Further, the remaining $5MM on Chapman’s contract could make it difficult for a team like the Indians to acquire him, as the Yankees are currently unwilling to eat any of that money.

Meanwhile, the Giants sense that the momentum is elsewhere in regards to Chapman, tweets Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News. The Yankees are giving the Giants “radio silence” and don’t like San Francisco’s farm system as much as other suitors’, adds Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Good for the Yankees. Don't give in to SF's shitty farm system.

I think the Giants will get a lefty like Wil Smith, and he'll end up with better numbers in the last two months then Chapman

I'm just not impressed by the talent out there as the guys that are considered superstars and available have some major flaws, whether that be diminished defensive value, massive H/R splits, rentals or just plain having bad seasons. I hate the idea of giving up considerable talent when the Dodgers current top talent all have very high ceilings and those projections continue to be justified when those guys move up and are still putting up great numbers. I'm not against moving prospects in the right deal, but I currently hate the asking prices for the talent currently available.

I'm confused why they would pay more for Chapman now than they could've had him in the offseason. Makes me wonder if Kenley being a baby was an actual factor in the decision to let him go. If they trade for him now it obviously wasn't because of the domestic violence case.

I will say, Chapman is obviously great, but with Kenley's free agency and Blanton being in his mid 30's, I wouldn't mind targeting someone (like Alex Colome?) who seems to be an elite arm that can be had for multiple years.
