Mike Adamle@TheMikeAdamle REPORT: Butler is involved in the LAL - Bulls trade talk. Lou Williams, Jordan Clarkson, & Julius Randle have been brought up - MCW as well. LAL ends up w/two wings that can D up + both Butler and Ingram could handle the ball and take some of that responsibility away from Russell. MCW, decent/young backup PG w/length Not bad..could also see CHI using LAL to leverage against Boston too, so who knows where this is headed But LAL does have the pieces to get something done, Butler being a safer bet under the circumstances
Agree that Ingram is the guy with most potential. He could be a scotty pippen type that can control the game on the defensive end and be just good enough to do everything on offense. Or he could wind up being a jack of all trades that doesn't really do anything very well. It's so hard to tell. So much depends on how much stronger he can get, and if he can learn to shoot. I love some of the things that D'lo brings, but he just seems so damn inconsistent. At this point, I'd give the young guys another year or two together. It would have been nice to have boogie, but I'm not sure he would have made that much of a difference. Might have been a middle of the road team (or worse) with him.
You trade for Cousins and then you trade for Jimmy Butler and that is your new core. Trade all your young guys not named Zubac and Nance since you probably cant get good value for them yet. Now guys like Deng and Mozgov serve a purpose. Keep Young and Lou. Trade for a pass first PG that is available and in these other dudes age range like Rubio. PG: Rubio, Calderon SG: Young, Lou SF: Butler, Deng PF: Nance, Zubac C : Cousins, Mozgov,
Ingram's floor is probably prime Tayshaun Prince, who was good enough to rep the USA team and of course was a winning/2-way SF that could also run the PG..great value even if he doesn't quite reach a Pippen-level.
Looks like Vlade is saying Cousins' agent killed the " better deal " that he had in place a couple days ago. If true, would assume it was LAL's offer that was killed because LAL/PHX/NO were the only teams in there, or at least the only teams that have been reported to my knowledge, and I doubt Cousins' agent would've killed a deal to PHX w/ Cousins' BFF Bledsoe there. Cousins has been talking about playing w/Bledsoe for a while. Maybe they worked it out w/o Ingram being involved?
IMO i would rather have Butler over Cousins. Not sure if Butler is a cancer but we all know that Cousins is. Besides, I bet Sac was asking for Ingram and Zubac, along with others. I think given a year Zubac can be good. I know his #'s dont look great now but if you take a look at his avg/36 min he is projects as a 15/10 guy. I also like the young movement. Feels like the Blazers 3-4 years ago. A starting line up of Russel/Butler/Ingram/Nance/Zubac would be crazy athletic. Maybe we get lucky and can get Butler for Swaggy/Nance/Clarkson/Lou......changing out Nance for Randall would make that lineup awesome!!!!
The manager said that Cousins would test FA and not sign with whatever team traded for him. He did not want to get traded because he would lose about 4M per year which on his next big contract could be like 26M on top of another year of max salary. The Kings had rights to pay him more than any other team. Plus any team that traded for him is gonna have to trade too much to get him and gut the team, or it would be with an organization or part of the country he does not like, or if gone to a great team he would not be 'the' man, etc... With the Pelicans he can be the man even on a team with Davis because of his being a veteran and having that super strong personality and game that will allow him and Davis to be on equal terms. Kinda how Westbrook and Durant were in OKC. The team was not gutted at all and is essentially one or two solid role players from being a serious threat to the big 4 teams in the NBA. Pelicans have no extensive history so he could go down like a Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, to Davis going down like the West, Magic and Kobe. Now they need something even close to a Baylor, Wilkes, Worthy and a few Kermits, Coopers, and Foxes.
Interesting how none of his former teammates (Matt Barnes aside) have come to Cousins' defense publicly. Barnes is the same guy who's played for every team in the league.
Jazz now in on Lou Williams along w/DC Feels like there's gonna be a trade bonanza around the league One potential trade that'll piss me off is if another one of these former Celtic players/GMs collude and send another star to Boston ala McHale/Garnett years ago..looking squarely at Bird/Paul George. Can't stand the thought of George joining the Celtics
Well the Lakers might have been able to pull off something like that but none of their EX players have amounted to anything in the coaching/GM realms. Any Ex lakers worth a dam at coaching are on Luke's bench. I really don't think Coop and the Sparks have anything to offer the Lakers.....
Mich was not crazy bad.......imo he was 50/50. Jim had to go. Good move on Jeanie's part. I wonder who the new GM is gona be?!?!?! Also kinda crazy to be looking for a new GM with 2 days to go till the trade deadline.
i just remember that talk show magic had hoping for the best change was necessary to say the least #bringbackthelogo
