a lot of pressure on hill imo top of the 1st could set the tone for the entire series... perhaps the postseason if we were to shut them down and (then) put some runs on the board in the bottom half... a lot of pressure on the offense to produce as well
I wonder if it's not too late for Verdugo to return to the mound. He's been trash thus far, so much for his youth giving them a boost or him getting a shot of adrenaline and turning his late season spiral around. Or maybe he'll figure it out soon..still not a lot of confidence in that because I think he's just fatigued, but obviously rooting for him. Adrian and Ethier just need to hang it up. I still can't figure out Forsythe's season..maybe it's as easy as saying he's a choker. He found himself with a hell of an opportunity with a great org/team and it doesn't look like he can handle expectations..sad. Grandy has 23 HRs on the season..I really shouldn't even be mentioning him along with these other fools, that includes Verdugo. He's slumping, but he's put together a productive season, unlike the rest of these turds. I hope our pitchers don't start throwing at guys and getting out of character. Last thing we need is some bean-ball war and 1 or 2 of our best everyday guys getting plunked/severely injured at this point in the season, especially when they're already dealing with Seager's injury. Just get out there and play winning ball.
bad timing for verdugo all of a sudden he's thrust into the lineup of a scuffling team often regarded as the best in baseball and he's trying too hard to prove he belongs -- that joc-like swing he took in the 7th ideally he should have been called up sooner, when the team was rolling and like you mentioned, he's gassed i'm okay with ethier or agon as bats off the bench, but nothing more and i would choose dre over adrian forsythe sucks someone (maybe it was you) pointed out that he's never played with a contending team before it shows grandy should make the postseason roster over ethier/agon only reason to start throwing at people is to protect our guys and/or retaliate and send a message but we shouldn't take it out on other teams just because they're playing better than us slumps are funny the whole team stopped hitting all at once but the good news... they'll probably all figure it back out at once our biggest problem has obviously been the starters (sans kershaw) hill has been hot/cold, darvish a huge disappointment, and ryu/maeda just aren't very good wood is the enigma has shown he can be dominant, but imo also has a fragile psyche so it's looks like it's gonna be kersh and everyone else come october... same old story
Like 3 appearances in a 5 game series? Come on Darvish, get your shit together! Can't blame Mattingly for killing Kersh anymore.....
You may be as right as Archie Bunker. Don't know what is coming down the pike, for sure...but it could very well be another year where the pitching looks in disarray when we need them most. Again. So much depends on Darvish and whoever as number three. About 4 starts to get their shit together, I guess.
1. Chris Taylor (R) CF 2. Enrique Hernandez (R) LF 3. Justin Turner (R) 3B 4. Cody Bellinger (L) 1B 5. Austin Barnes (R) C 6. Yasiel Puig (R) RF 7. Logan Forsythe (R) 2B 8. Charlie Culberson (R) SS 9. Rich Hill (L) P
Excited for Buehler! @JoshuaThornton_ 4m4 minutes ago Joc Pederson, Trayce Thompson and Walker Buehler will join the #Dodgers Wednesday, Dave Roberts said.
We arent this bad. Bad news, we arent as good as we have been most of this season. But that should not be news. Team was super hot and played above their grade. Now we will get to see what they really are.
What if Trayce starts hitting bombs vs lefties like he did in the past? CF: Taylor SS: Seager 3B: Turner 1B: Bellinger 2B: Barnes C : Grandal RF: Puig LF: Joc/Trayce as the only platoon. And we dump all the old guys and Logan too.
Wood's finesse. That's about as nicely as I can put it. Even if he were pitching well right now, it's still a tough go with a finesse guy in the post season. Can it be done? We've seen finesse guys get it done in the post to varying degrees, but again, it's just tougher than say having a young, primed flame thrower like Buehler may turn out to be in coming years. A lot of Braves' fans couldn't figure out why Smoltz was out-performing Maddux and Glavine in the post in the 90's..Smoltz was just their power guy missing more bats. Finesse guys are walking a tight rope in October..even the best of them. If Wood were the old, experienced dog with finesse stuff I'd feel better about him, but of course he's young with nary a post season start as well. Far as I'm concerned Wood's served his purpose, served well in the #2 spot in a season where LAD had legit comp coming from multiple orgs within the division. Think I feel better about Hill's chances in the post and that's a fucked up feeling with all his blister stuff. I wouldn't be shocked if we looked up a year from now and Wood wasn't even a favorite to be our 4th guy in the post season. We'll see how slow they go with Julio, but perhaps he'll be an option for Oct next season..then of course there's Buehler and Mitch White..throw in a possible Otani acquisition and so, yeah. What LAD could have in the 2018 post season is something that looks closer to what the Mets had before all their young arms hit skids. A bunch of young, power guys behind CK. And the way Darvish is pitching, he may actually be helping his chances of being re-signed by LAD..he may be in the midst of lowering his market value right now. Give Honeycutt an off-season with Darvish, I like his chances. But for this year's run, your guess is as good as mine. I agree, I don't mind Adrian and Ethier as pinch hitters. At the very least they have a chance to draw a walk or have a respectable/knowledgeable AB in a pinch. I wouldn't expect any fireworks from them though. Just get on base and get pinch run for..I don't want either of them running the bases. Yeah, I still remember Ethier getting picked off of 3B against STL..what a jackass. Ended a 2-run, 2 out rally. I don't know that Verdugo will be ready to go 150-165 games next year either. He moved so fast through the minors with so much hype that you almost forget he couldn't even drink legally a few months ago. Little, young fella..I wish him the best. I thought the lineup would elevate Forsythe, him never having as much fire power around him, yet still doing very well for himself the last couple years. He hasn't really been a guy that's embraced expectations in his career, so I don't know why I'm shocked. 1st round pick..then disappeared for years, dealing with all kinds of stuff performance wise and in regards to health. He finally started producing and locked up a starting role 7 years after being drafted, but damn he looked like he'd finally found it..guess everybody can't be Justin Turner.
