DODGERS The MAGIC NUMBER Thread

The team needs you to have faith.
Every team needs their fans.
They are the extra man out there helping them.
Teams that have the money and the talent and the skills but still lose when it counts usually have shitty fans.
Show me a team with honor and integrity and Ill show you a fanbase with faith and hope.

But in my heart and mind.
In my mouth and in my body language I am all steam ahead GO DODGERS!
What comes out of your mouth is alive, our breath breathes life into our words and they become manifest in reality.
And that goes double for when we write.
That is why the best way to remember something is to repeat it and to write it down not just hear it or read it.
And once you remember something... it is like the real thing.
Hell, sometimes even better than the real thing.

because i live it... daily, even in the offseason
i remember breaking down and crying with joy in 1981
the excitement gibson brought to this team and willed them to [somehow] win in 88
i could go back further but those memories are a little more vague -- but i was there, always have been
the dodgers are like an abusive boyfriend, girlfriend or partner [homo]
no matter how much they rip your heart out and shit on you, you keep coming back for more
and even though they were considered the best in baseball only a month or so ago, most of us knew something like this was coming
would be our fate for untouchable verdugo and buehler to ultimately end up as average players and for verlander to lead houston to a championship
i feel like the giants, as bad as they are, will rebuild and win another championship before we do
same with the angels
now if we somehow figure everything out and win it all, great
but until that happens [i believe] my pessimism is well warranted
check the polls for every game thread... @THINKBLUE and i always vote we get swept
while i can't speak for him, my voting process is simply as i stated above -- although i don't know, [necessarily] think or [god forbid] hope they get swept, i just know something bad is always right around the corner with this team
a 29 year [and counting] drought is not an aberration
but until something changes i'll remain loyal and cautiously optimistic

We have the most fans in the world, us and the Yankees.
I never talked about quantity. Nor did I talk about filling up the stadium.
You dont address what I said at all, you talk about a different thing altogether. Straw man.

This is not a quid pro quo. You did not buy shit.
The money you spend if you spend on the team is a free will offering.
It does not mean you are owed anything more than the show you got.
What kind of entitled delusion is that?

The team does not pay us the fans with ROY or MVP or even a World Series ring.
The team wins ROY and MVP, the team wins World Series.
You the fan are part of the team.
Nobody is going to give you jack shit.
You have to go out and earn it just like any other player.
But we play a very special position on the team.
And we can either play the right way and help our team win or play the wrong way and just get in the way of those who want to win.
Because nobody deserves to win and nobody owes you the title.
Just like Hillary did not deserve to win and nobody owed her the title many felt she deserved and was owed to her.

So root root root for your home team.

 

I will be honest and remove even the false hope you have.
You do know that 88 was a fluke right?
I know you do.
With that spirit I say to you.. fuck the standings, fuck the past month, fuck the opposition, fuck the futility of the past, they are all the enemy.
Lets pray we get that fluke mojo going instead.
Because that pays off way better than all the salary and all star players in the world.
But to be flukey like that you need one very important thing.
For the fans to play right and give the team on the field an extra man advantage at home AND on the road.
And by on the road I dont Dodger fans in other cities.
I mean us here in LA and everywhere that are giving our players the right juju so Jobu can work his magic.

we went from the team no one wanted to play to one who can't even compete with the padres or phillies
two months ago our team could have easily breezed to a championship
now imo they would be the underdogs in the lds
that feeling they had where they could come from any deficit... gone
like i said i'll stay loyal and root for them forever
but i have serious doubts with this team

 

Thats not the mojo man.
The mojo cant be pissed away.
That was talent, skill, and lots of money and help from the FO.
That will get you far. It got us very far.
But none of that wins the WS.
That is not what got us to win the WS in 88.
It was not because we were so good that we could beat anyone.
It was because we believed it.
Now we dont believe it and say two things that mean the opposite in the same sentence.
You cant be loyal and have hope if you have serious doubts. There cant be hope where there is doubts.
Imagine if you say, I hope my wife never cheats on me... but I have my doubts. And im gonna still be loyal even though I am pretty sure she wont be loyal to me.
Fuck that, if you have doubts then you have already lost.
Best move on to another woman because your lack of faith is disturbing.

I am talking about one thing, you come at me with another argument, I called that argument a straw man. \
You took offense at that. You took offense.

I engage them and I goad them into showing their true Dodger Blue colors.
We disagree and we talk about it.
We sometimes misunderstand each other but then we talk about it.
We think the other person is dead wrong but then we talk about it some more.
We always come back to the same conclusion and more importantly the same page.
Because when we talk about the Dodgers, or anything else here in this forum and hopefully outside too... our talking is aimed at a meeting of the minds.
At reasoning together.
At coming together.
And yes Blue, if you come to the group and you don't want to come together you should just stay home and come alone.

A ton of people disagree with me here, that is the beauty of things. I would never in a million years ban or disallow the people who disagree with me.
I love those people. I want those people. I look for those people, I have those people. I feel those people.
And I and those people can and will usually always agree after we have disagreed.
Because we are agreeable.
Because we want the same thing.
Because we are on the same team.
Because it is all love.

But to love you have to have faith.
And to have faith you have to have hope.
And to have hope you have to dream.
And to dream you have to be able to see.

I can see the Dodgers winning the World Series.
So can the rest of us.
Even if temporarily they let their eyelids get heavy and they confuse dreaming with sleeping and close their eyes and no longer see.
Its hard to stay awake when bitches be dropping curses and hexes constantly.
Because that is what cursing really is, witchcraft and all. There is no such thing as harry potter hocus pocus, just look over there.
All witchcraft is is bitchcraft. Curses are negative sayings. We say fuck shit cunt and any other 'bad' word because we know the words arent bad. Its the negativity in our content that is the cursed word.

My teammates need to keep their eyes on the prize.
In all ways.
And I love my teammates and feel like shit whenever I let them down.
