More like they finally stopped looking a gift horse in the mouth.
You luck into a powerful stallion and you treat him like a stubborn mule.
    That aint right.
What you think is a unruly jackass is actually an untamable wild horse.
Instead of putting blinders on it and beating it with a crop to get it to run straight where you want it to run you should better jump on its back if you still can and ride him to the promised land.
Just hold on tight, you dont want to fall off and get trampled underfoot.

You gotta remember that Puig comes from latin america where Soccer is your first teacher into sports.
And that teacher is all about throwing yourself to the ground while you grab your shins and cry to the ref.

Most excellent coaches are difficult to understand because fans know how to manage the way bad managers manage because most managers are bad managers and that is what fans are used to seeing as 'good managing' so when actual good managing comes around they think its bad.

How bout we leave Kenta in another inning so he gives up a few home runs and we can start a thread about how Dave Roberts sucks for leaving Kenta in.
    Good managers can never win.
Even when they win the game.
He won the manager of the year award.
Then he won the most games in the league.
Now he has the team 1 win away from advancing to the next round.

Even after most fans thought this team was done 2 weeks ago.
If that was really the case, that we were done 2 weeks ago then now being 1 win away from the 2nd round is a great job by Dave. What a turnaround!
    No.
Dave was doing a great job then as he is now. The situation is just different and so far he has shown me that he knows how to manage to the situation and not to the fans or the media.

IMO Dave has shown himself to be a great manager so far.

Dont you want Maeda to look incredible again next time he pitches?
Or you want Dave to blow his load the first game in?

    And thats a bad thing?
I would think that is the actual plan, no?
Get what you can out the starter, throw in some relievers to get you to your setup men and finally Jansen for a chance to win.
You really cant ask for anything more in the playoffs.
Specially when your offense is kicking ass.

What you’re saying he shouldn’t be doing with Maeda is exactly what he’s doing with Jansen

    Situation is different.
Look at Jansen. Look at Maeda.
One guy is a beast, the other guy is a little Japanese dude.
One guy is a closer used to this role, the other guy is a starter who gets gassed easy and is not used to this new role.
There are a bunch of things going on that the manager has to think about and hold in his mind at the same time while the game is going on and he has to make a choice. It is not as simple as this guy is good vs this guy or this guy is hot and this guy is cold.
Fans underestimate the game so much that when they see a manager actually doing his job they get confused.
This is not the AL. Our managers actually have to manage. Today the Dodgers did a lot of stuff that fans here have said they wanted to see the Dodgers do more of on the regular season. They manufactured the fuck out of some of those runs early. That is mostly the managers instructions being played out.
And the reason he did not do such things much in the regular season was that he did not have to show his hand. I am sure they practice all this stuff all year. But why bring out your trick plays when you are so far ahead in the standings? Save those for when you can get the opponent off guard and they dont know what you have up your sleeve.

Super happy for Puig and the player he's become. I thought his offensive results early in the year was smoke and mirrors... but he has worked tirelessly with Turner Ward to improve his swing and he is legit crushing line drives all over the field. The quality of ABs are great. His defense is incredible. His energy is much needed for this team and city.

Seeing him doing interviews in English is endearing and you can tell he isn't the guy he was accused of being early on in his career. I hope he hits a grand slam off Greinke, the luggage nazi.
