A run is a run is a run in a tight ball game. Whether that MF comes from the bottom of the order or the top..whether its a double that scores 2 or couple solos shots. Doesn't matter. Did the bottom of the order squander more opportunities? Of course. But did they all, 1-8, have opportunities to do enough to get the win? You bet. Win as a team, lose as a team.
We got Donald Trump in here, arguing to the death despite having a half-miler's argument . Pfffft MOM, MEATLOAF!!!
I feel bad for Wood. Giving up 3 runs isn’t good, but scoring only 2 runs also sucks. I am not super critical of Robert’s lineup, but I also think there was too many changes from a winning formula in a close out game. I really don’t want Granderson in any lineup other than a desperate PH situation in the WS where you already have a DH in an AL stadium. As for CK, I don’t know if it is just me, but his post season pitching motion is more....violent???? There is a lot more motion and action to it. Maybe that’s why he doesn’t last past the 6th. I just hope he doesn’t feel like he’s the only SP that can win it for the team. There’s so many more options, even in the BP. I hope CK just relaxes, enjoys the moment, and treats this like any game where he tries to go the distance.....not like it will be the last game he ever pitches. I really feel we have this series. But I don’t want the Cubs to turn into Grizzly Bears. Don’t give room to breathe like the Stros have done. Get rid of these losers
bottom line we didn't get it done thought roberts jv/sunday lineup put us in a bad spot hard to win when 56% of your lineup (5-9) are auto outs and because of that, for one game, we turned into the cubs -- scoring only on solo hr's and i'm done defending kershaw's abysmal postseason miseries he's the #1 on a potential ws team... go out and shut them down that's your fucken job if he gets shelled, then i'm sorry... he's just not a big game pitcher plain and simple goodnight bkitches
Astros are probably feeling pressure on many fronts at this point They're staring at a talented bullpen across from them, so they probably feel they need to score early Their own bullpen is suspect, so they're also probably feeling it there They had this 2-0 lead that's now gone They were supposed to be doing it for their city after hurricane Harvey Trying to win their 1st ever WS Then of course they were crowned 2017 WS champions by Sports Illustrated years ago They have a lot on their plate, but luckily for them, Verlander is pretty damn good at blocking out noise and all they need is 1 W to square some of the pressure Hard to figure out what to expect from Kershaw in Game 5 and that's just a damn shame
Six shutout innings from the supposed best pitcher on the planet shouldn't be asking for an incredible amount, but it feels like a given he's allowing a couple dingers tonight
Wood was better than Arrieta? Three runs in 4+ innings? OK...guess those meatballs that they hit almost 500 ft. once, and that other scrub with two is " so what"? That was their total output, so he wasn't good at all, imo. Unless you use giving up five HRs as a criteria. It's a done deal, over, and in the books. The one question I would ask of Dave...if we were down 0-3, or 1-2, would that have been the lineup you trot out there or what? That would answer a lot for me, because I think the "good guy" aspect was in full bloom last night, giving some fading vets a chance to be in it, but not the best chance to win...and they all three proved it is sunset time, at least on the post. I absolutely feel overconfidence ( like on display pre game on DSP) ruled his lineup construction, and it almost always smacks you in the mouth. Given that, we lost by one run on a night when the lineup was horrid with zero help from half the guys on it. He's gotta go for the throat, and go get this. Hope there isn't too much opportunity from the anti Kershaw ragging and excoriation which has become a drone now. If he falters, just get him out of there.. Oh...and score some runs.
Barnes has to play Forsythe has to play. Every game. Even if Utley and Grandal have better numbers against RHP, there's something incredibly valuable about a guy having a 5-6 pitch at bat every time, especially against a team with a bullpen as bad as the Cubs. If we can chase Quintana after 5 we have a great chance.
Amazing, the posts and giddy feelings yesterday, and now an ugly shadow of doubt cast over the series, as the sweep dissolves before our eyes. And if it is so ordained that we do get to the WS, I'm not looking forward to Wood and his reduced velocity approach against either the Yanks or the Astros, quite honestly. I wonder if he trades places with Kenta, should it occur.
If we're lucky enough to advance, I'd like to see Ryu for one turn through the order and Maeda for one in Game 4 of the next series
I agree with the Logan thing ( gasp!), but I do not know wtf is going on with Barnes at the plate. He looks like a different guy completely, all meek and not threatening at all.
reading the comments last night i guess i was the only one who thought he got royally fucked on that last ab
We all would have signed up for 3-1 through 4 without hesitation. Time for our ace to pitch like one and finish the job.
