If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

Yeah, the chances of the Dodgers being interested in Machado is probably somewhere in the 0-1% range. They aren’t moving the whole IF around for a guy who could jet in a year.

I still think we need that one big bat to solidify the offense. I know they did good last year because throughout someone new stepped up to carry the offense. I just don't trust that to happen in 2018 as good as it did in 2017. I want an established big bat to be the anchor and cause other teams to say "OH SHIT.....we gota get passed that line up". Also with the tankees getting Stanton, we need more firepower. If MGT wants to give the kids a shot at the rotation (Behuler/Urias/Alvarez) fine. Fix the bullie, and trade for Machado. Leave Machado at 3b, and move Turner to 1b and Bellinger to LF.

I think that point is stronger if Turner and Seager have these long futures at their current positions ahead of them, which they don't necessarily have. Turner made his occasional sparkling play at 3B this season, sometimes in flurries, but ultimately he took a step back defensively this year..what you'd expect from a guy moving along in age. And then of course they've already been willing to move Seager, wanted Simmons before he landed with the Halos. It's worth noting, I just don't think it kills the opp because of the guys in question. Not to mention Machado's ability to play both spots at above average levels would give LAD more versatility/flexibility to give different looks/rest guys/handle injuries that pop up, so it'd play into LAD's philosophy.

Oh god....please let this not be true.

If Darvish goes to Houston after that slanty-eyes stunt and blowing chunks during the WS, Darvish is a bigger bitch than I thought.

The Giants have strong interest in Billy Hamilton which would be fantastic for the Dodgers. Going from Giancarlo or Ozuna to Hamilton is about as large as a let down as you could have

If you believe Buehler can be the 4th starter this year then you really don’t have to do anything in free agency other than find a LHH backup infielder and a good reliever or two. Run it back and shoot for Harper or Machado next year

Yup plus the FO has shown they are comfortable making a trade for a top line starter at the July 31 deadline if that’s what’s needed. So you can evaluate how Hill/Wood/Buehler/Ryu look and determine how big of an upgrade is needed

this is quite honestly the best news yet
also gives leverage/lends credence to friedman's earlier statement that we didn't need a starter

not to mention if urias keeps recovering ahead of schedule...

Roberts reiterated that Kenta Maeda is expected to be a starter after relieving in the postseason.
    12:28 PM — 12 Dec 2017

Looks like the rotation is set with Kershaw/Hill/Wood/Maeda/Behuler-Ryu combo. If MGT is not going to try to find a #2 to Kershaw's #1 then the need for a BIG bat is even greater.

Giancarlo grew up a dodgers fan, and agent wolfe suggested it might have
been hard for him to become a giant. “These guys are kids” at heart.

FO already on record that relief is the focus not a bat. I realize these aren't BIG bats but Toles is back, looking to Joc as a bounce back candidate and fingers crossed Alex Verdugo continues his quest to drop weight.

I thougth the exact same thing when I heard the Gants name as possible destination, NO self-respecting Dodger fan should want to play for the arch enemies.

Been reading the crawl on the bottom of the screen on MLB for about 10 minutes now, during the magnificent interview with the Giant Head, Bochy.
The tweets and all...the Dodgers are not included in one of them. Might be a diversion...a ruse. Might not be.
    Which is good!

Toles could be 2018 Taylor so that is a plus, but Joc and Verdugo....i duno. IMO MGT needs to sell on Joc while his trade value is up. Still not sold on Verdugo. Not much power in minors and he is not fast. Not sure why MGT likes him if he has no power and no speed.
