  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

Because he probably sucks at 2B and they already know.

You can still trade a guy that is on the DL, there are just more med docs to go over and a special review by the commissioners office. In that event, you are looking more at a team that thinks they are going to compete either next year, or wants to sign Puig to a long term deal(or are really willing to take a lottery ticket on this season). It is not likely, but there definitely scenarios that I could see it happening.

He was already an awkward athlete for SS
Boy would I hate to see Seager's big ass trying to make athletic turns at 2B

I'd be more worried about the mental side. Dodgers have spent so much time and effort trying to usher Puig along into manhood and just responsible behavior, that if I'm an interested team, I'd have to have questions about his ability to hold up mentally and emotionally. Because its safe to say he'd be sad initially, and where it goes from there, nobody knows

Puig is just a big happy kid, full of ability, who comes from the land of machismo. Not a Manson family member. Fucking twit!

Probably hasn't been mentioned yet, but with LAD making such a great effort to reignite their strength in the DR in recent years, Machado would be a great face for that movement. Machado over in the DR, making trips to LAD's new facility there, that'd be pretty nice for the org. This has to be a long term partnership. I hate to already be looking to the winter, but fuck it, can't help it. I'll be pretty pissed if they don't ink Machado long term at the end of the day

It is better to look good than to feel good...or be good.

    So my 2 cents:

Yes Machado is better than Stanton, though IMO my Stanton argument still has some weight. If MGT is going to try to sign Manny to a long term deal he will be 27 in his FA year and probably command a 10 year deal at an AAV of $30MM+ through age 37. Lets all remember that Stanton is signed till he is 38 but at an AAV of 29.5 (if he is bought out in his last year).

I get that MGT was trying to stay under the Lux Tax this year and Stanton's $25MM this year would severely hamper that but the prospects that MGT is giving up to get Manny is a better haul than Miami got for Stanton. Also if MGT is going to shed salary to get a reliever they could have shed salary to get under the lux tax from Stanton's contract. IMO there are a few creative avenues MGT could have gone to make the Stanton deal work.

Not saying I want Stanton over Machado, especially because Stanton would already further crowd the OF. We need a big bat and can slide Machado right in to Seagers slot. Just kinda playing devils advocate with the Stanton convo.

As for trading an OF for a relief pitcher, im not sure how MGT is going to get anything of value for any of our OF's? Kemp is far exceeding expectations but unless MGT sends cash (they wont) in any trade no one is trading for him. Puig is too inconsistent, too hurt, and too much of a head case. Joc is even more inconsistant than Puig, and he has a pattern he does great then sucks then does great in the playoffs. Toles has not had enough time in the majors to reestablish his bat. Again I don't see how MGT is trading any of those guys to get a relief pitcher of value.

Not sure how reputable he is, but if true, Baltimore can take it in the ass.

He is a former GM, so I would not be shocked if he is well connected. This par for the course for the Orioles though. What a fucking joke of a franchise.

If you are wondering what "medical issues" are, it is Angelos speak for "I do not like this deal, kill it or have them up their offer"

    my take...
    • nothing is done until it's done. all this machado presumption is just that, until it's actually official
    • as for moving seager to 1b, turner to 2b, cody to the of, etc... why??? why not put the players in the positions they're best at and then adjust. if that means shipping seager, so be it. realize that may be blasphemy but, if healthy, could net quite a return
    • and back to it not yet being official, this silence makes me feel like the so-called done deal is about to fall apart. angelos could very easily pull the plug if, for no other reason, to say fuck you to everyone. and tbh, couldn't really blame him
