Credit cards have been opened in my name without my permission. I created an account at Experian to place a fraud alert. When I tried to log in today to contest credit I did not apply for, I could not get into my account. I did the "forgot password"/"username" process, and it sent my log in information to an email address I have never seen before! No idea what to do.
Yeah, I contacted those card companies. I found out because the cards came to me in the mail. I also got an alert from credit Karma about my increase in inquiries.
hope you stay aggressive on this i've known people who have had their lives ruined for years try to think of where you might have put out information like ancestry.com or that type of thing also any porn sites you might be paying for
I placed the fraud alert but I'm not confident as fuck in it. I'm going to file a police report today. I'll probably call the IRS and Social Security too. Such a pain.
it can go on for a very long time so i wish you luck law enforcement isn't even set up to do anything about it and will make you do all the legwork to defend yourself all the while your credit rating gets shattered and people want to get paid not trying to scare you and i'm sure you've heard some of the stories would really like for you to think about how it could have happened and if you put your information out there i mean if you use a cc at a gas station you are at risk at the pump because they put reading devices on the pumps if you can't identify them its best to walk the card inside and even then is the attendant honest? my friends sister that just went barreling through the sfv in the motor home w the dogs hanging out does this for a living he told me she does it w ease mostly on the ancestry sites and she's not exactly a smart person as you may have noticed some of those fake sites are pretty real looking and the whole phone spam for ssn numbers and threats is epidemic another friends mom was stopped last minute from sending 30k in cash to people that got her on the phone she was always sharp as a tack and no one fooled her but some fucker almost did and it would have been devastating i don't answer numbers i don't know and i rarely do business on anything but the amazons of the world and even they have outside sellers so i watch for that too motherfuckers
That's what's baffling. I do not use credit cards. I have a card linked to Amazon Prime and that's about it. I use a cash envelope system for Gas, Groceries, Home Supplies, Spending, etc. etc. I haven't used Ancestry.com as I am the last person to give a shit about my ethnicity. I haven't watched Porn since 2014. I'm running out of ideas. I have a point of sale phone application for business which required a SSN, Bank Account, FBN, etc...idk. I lost my Drivers License about 3 weeks ago and had it replaced. That's all I can think of right now. The police report is just for my own records and paper trail so if I end up in a legal situation, someone can't say, "why didn't you file a police report?" This is all foreign to me (racist).
hate to say it bro... but it might be someone you know, work with, even a friend or family not trying to be insensitive or a dick just saying start with those who have access
Anything is possible. I don't take offense to that at all. I had to use my social security card as a second form of ID at a testing center about a month ago when I needed to upgrade a professional license. All of the employees at the testing center were young black females. I'm not saying black = thief, but I'm saying the accounts opened match that demographic. The accounts are WayFair (furniture), Overstock (furniture), JC Penny (clothes), the Gap (clothes)...
i think we might have a winner not that the racial thing is damning but it doesn't sound like you have a lot of other options i'd strongly consider pursuing that
