i always felt it was escape for guys who didn't like spending time w their wives and families so it never appealed to me either
my father picked it up later in life and got really into it so i went 3 or 4 times but was just bored
he was really into his form and was pretty dedicated
remember him getting mom into it and i think they had some pretty good years trying different courses and made some decent albeit strange friends
the attorney always wants me to play but i'd rather sit at the beach and stare at waves

I don't mind going out once or twice a year to remind myself how truly bad I am at the sport, but one thing I'll never understand is how someone could sit in front of the TV for hours and watch a tournament. I can barely find time to catch half a baseball or football game on TV... I'm certainly not going to waste half a day watching dudes in preppy clothes agonize over how to approach hitting a ball down a long lawn to the anything-but-exhilarating ovation of golf claps.

    THIS ^^^ times ten....

I've played maybe 40 rounds of golf in my life, and I've never broken 100. It's a great game but Mark Twain said it best: " Golf is a good walk spoiled."

As for watching golf, maybe the last few holes on Sunday at the Masters or British Open, if it's close. Otherwise ... I prefer to binge watch Barney Miller repeats. Still a bitchen show.

dad used to watch the tournaments and i'd come over and wait to watch the nba in the 80s and it drove me crazy
the golf ALWAYS went over time and they'd be posting the score of the Lakers/Celtics game that already started
he thought it was hysterical the longer it went and the crazier i got

well i finally said my goodbyes to my brother in law
he's not dead yet but its just a matter of time now
in all my life around the AA program and sick people, including myself, i've never seen someone so committed to destroying himself
he has a county job and has put in 15 years already but doesn't care if he loses it and is wandering around his place in Santa Clarita basically comatose
yesterday i was doing some recon w a friend and we got on his trail pretty quick by talking to people in restaurants and showing his photo
his MO is to eat and drink and then remember he doesn't have his wallet...which is in impound w his phone and the rental he crashed and received felony DUI last week
he found an extra cc and was using that to varied success since he doesn't have ID
known him for 30 years and travelled all sorts of places and had a lot of laughs but that was long ago
he had quadruple heart surgery 8 years ago and it appears as if he's smoking 2 packs a day and longing to marry a 23 year old puta from down south
i got his mom out of the place he shared w her and she's staying w me until we get her a place
rounded up all his guns i could find and refused to help him rent a car which he unbelievably is still trying to do
last week was his third accident in the last month and he's been found passed out ending up in the hospital several times
of course its never his fault and he has flat out rejected an intervention from his sister and nieces saying horrible things to them
he greeted me on the street w fuck off leave me alone and ended it the same way
literally wandering around dragging a bag like a homeless person leaning to one side while folks look on and shake their heads
seemingly he's oblivious to it and reacts in anger and entitlement to complete strangers over the simplest things
i'm thinking there must be mental illness going on as well and i've shifted to trying to shut him down and get him committed before something bad happens...if that's even possible
making fliers and passing them out to the businesses next week as a warning although it seems they already know
at least he's not driving but he claims he's going to Vegas tonight followed by Boston and Toronto to see friends and of course things will be different in those places
still has his passport and claims to have other ccards he can use so who knows
self will run riot is a spectacular spiral to witness
