Trout is so good that I can't even comprehend it. How can someone be so much better than everyone? Unreal.
Lowest ERA Through July Since 1920 1968 Bob Gibson 0.96 1968 Luis Tiant 1.32 2015 Zack Greinke 1.41 Straight up G!
I'd love to see our record since the beginning of last year when only Kershaw, Greinke or Jansen pitch
Greinke is 42-14 with a 2.33 ERA since signing with the Dodgers and has a 1.93 ERA in 28 postseason innings. Give the man a blank check this offseason
totally agree and i don't see how anyone could argue otherwise because if (for argument's sake) he were putting up these numbers with someone else, we'd all be begging the nerds to sign him this offseason
I'll say this re: Greinke. I want him back but I'd leverage the great FA market against him. Tell him it's him or Price and offer them the same deal, whoever takes it first.
Everytime I see Trout... I just think "what would of happened if we didn't sign Orlando Hudson in 09 and drafted Trout with the 17th pick"? #draftmatters
Makes sense...but with Greinke, conventional methods may fall completely flat. I think Zack marches to the sound of a different drummer, and the Dodgers and how and what they spend millions on (not neccessarily a good thing totally), make be cutting off their nose to spite their face a bit. We'll see, but ZG is ZG, and standard psychologies may not apply here. I can imagine Zack, or anybody they want, would say "you're paying out 85 million for players not to play for you, so if you want me, pay me". IDK. "We know you've got it-you throw it all over the place".
Excuse double post, just saw this: MLB Scouting Report on a recently drafted Michael Trout: Trout is a toolsy high school center fielder who was gaining momentum as the weather in the Northeast warmed up. He looks more like a football safety -- his position in high school -- than a center fielder, but has the tools to play there with plus speed. He just started switch-hitting to enhance his offensive value, and with some changes to his approach at the plate should hit for some power down the line. There is some rawness with the bat, but he has the kind of upside many teams look for in a high school position player, and was moving into first-round conversations as a result.
Greinke should age really well I can see him being extremely productive into his mid 30s like cliff lee was for the Phillies Greinke is elite at sequencing his pitches and hitting his spots. Even if he loses a tick on his fastball he still has the elite changeup and plus slider and can always put the fastball wherever he wants. Tbh he is a must resign for me. And why not add price as well just because we need more niggas on the team
If you include the steroid era, a lot: Randy Johnson, Curt Schilling, Kevin Brown, Roger Clemens, Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz... Basically every top pitcher from 2000-08.
Something like what happened when the other great LA move was done...letting a guy go who went into the HoF last week in exchange for a very mediocre 2nd baseman. For all the good moves we've made (recent history, even with the Red Sox I and II blockbusters included particularly) have amounted to nothing. Have to believe there wouldn't be another 2000-something WS plaque in DS back with the other ones with Trout....maybe even two. That's baseball. Especially Dodger baseball.
You can blame Lasorda for that one. He may love the Dodgers, but that doesn't excuse him from being a dumb, shitty person lol
yeah, I know. last mgr. that brought a WS to LA though...and it's long ago. I guess if you win a couple, you figure that moves you make are pretty much golden touch. Like Sabean does most of the time. Please let it be not so with Leake. I don't know about Tommy being a shitty person: maybe he is, but IDK. I know he's funny though, and is the King of All Rants. Oh, and never says "bitch", so he can't be all bad, I figure....
