    Congratulations...we've done it again.
May this be the only part of the post season that is the same as it used to be...
Let's get in this time, where we belong.

C'mon, Irish...you know you're at least proud of them once again.
Really, if they would have clinched way back when as opposed to last night, ultimately, what difference would it make in the end result? The best you can do in the regular 162 is win your division...no more is possible.
The difference I see is when back on the roll, all systems were working in fine tune.
Now, there seems to be more than one hole to deal with. Could stay sputtering, or could get over and above performances from those we need it from.
    Time for leadership is now.
Guys like Taylor and Puig have truly given us efforts that are examples of what determination in yourself as an athlete, in spite of what others may opine about you. We need that, especially with the emergence of AZ and CO as genuine competition for us now.
They've proved that they are not a fluke.
    Either of them.
This is what we need to finally at least get there.
I believe it is WS or bust.
Gonna get harder from here on out, I think.
Not that this year was the cake walk our W/L would indicate.

was listening to a clip of the D-Backs broadcasters as they announced the Dodgers clinching the division, and man did they sound salty. Horrible announcers.

I'm not sure what I'd prefer: Them losing in the wild card game as they are making lots of assumptions about getting to play the Dodgers, or the Dodgers beating them in the NLDS. The first one would be hilarious but then they'd say some bullshit like "Well, we woulda beat them if we faced them!"

Sure, that would kind of their job though, wouldn't it?
We get pissed as LA fans, of course, but how else would they play it?
Sort of like the almost universally hated cheerleader Orel...sometimes after he blistering criticisms, I wonder, " what is the guy supposed to say as Dodger announcer"?...difference being, we hate the AZ guys, as rivals. Pretty normal.
    But Orel is our own.
    And Steiner.
    And Munday.
And I don't know about Davis, really. Maybe.

i get what you mean, but I think theres a big difference in rooting for the team you are announcing for and what the DBack announcers do in criticizing the Dodgers and sounding like bitter children when the Dodgers have any success.

There is more money in negativity.
Too many fanatics in the sport now.
So they cater to their negativity.
    And are rewarded.
You get more of what you reward and less of what you dont value.
One of the laws of the universe.

that's what made vinny so great... well, one of the many things
vinny was a fan -- first and foremost -- of people
didn't matter what uni you wore, what job you had, how much money you made... he was your fan
i give orel (and others) a lot of grief for the "us" and "we" shit (which i fucken hate)
    vinny never did that
if you had never heard a dodger broadcast before and then tuned in and listened to vin, you would have been hard [no homo] pressed figuring out which team he was employed by
dick enberg was/is that way too
i don't hate orel in any way, but [at least for me] the us/we shit gets tiresome
fwiw, even ned always says "them" or "the dodgers" when referring to the team
then again, wtf do i know? ... that's rhetorical, don't answer bkitches

A division championship is a division championship. 150+ games to win a championship is a feat. Regardless of how they've played they still accomplished goal #1. Congrats and I'm glad we have another opportunity to play for a championship but let's quit the bullshit and actually win it this year!

there's been some real breakouts this season, most notably taylor and bellinger
but the reemergence of puig stands out the most
i said many times this preseason that i doubted he could become a great player again, but also added that i would be happy to be proven wrong... and that i am, on both accounts

as for the meh comment, it's exactly what you said halfway through -- ws or bust
nl west titles are great to put on a resume, but i'm sorry... they don't mean shit in the big picture
celebrate a little, but don't for a moment think you've accomplished anything near your goal
that's what killed the team in 2008 imo, when [after sweeping the cubs] they were heavily favored to beat the phillies
problem was they had no team leaders who had been there before
all that running around the stadium, high-fiving fans, jumping into the stands showed their immaturity/inexperience
they thought all they had to do was just show up for the nlcs and the phillies were going to lay down for them, and they got their asses handed to them
that said, unlike 2008 there is a lot of veteran presence on this team, guys who have won before [chase] and guys who are sick and tired of falling short
so maybe this is the year?...

the 11-game losing slump put a lot of us [me] in a foul mood
i expected them to slump at some point, but not for the whole team to turn into shit all at once
the team that seemed unbeatable only a month ago now suddenly had a ton of holes [no homo] and weaknesses
    so which team is it?
    sadly, both
but hopefully more the former than the latter
just have to go on a hot streak come october 7...

I'm excited for some 'low-pressure' baseball tonight. I put low pressure in quotes because losing to these pussies is never acceptable.

I'm letting this one go considering yesterday and Ryu getting hit.

But with the Indians winning today, the lead will probably be down to 1 game.

I'm kinda resigned to the fact that we will not have HFA against the AL.

But it seems they are in evaluation mode, which at this point is fine with me.
