    If that is the sole reason, it is douchey. But Donnie is on the hot seat too, and needs to prove he can win with a team that was built to win it now (and for years down the road). Donnie doesn't strike me as one to jeopardize his career just to prove a point.

    Also, the FO office maybe nerds, but that also, by definition, doesn't make them stupid. They don't strike me as that petty.

    My guess is that the players on the field, this early in the season, are those who have been with the team a few years, are more experienced, and need playing time, and maybe heavily relied upon in the payoffs or if the pennant race gets tight.

    Guerrero will have his day, believe me. He will get his playing time as the other dudes need their rest and/or tweak something and need time off. He will get plenty of opportunities to contribute.....and certainly in years to come.

    a good point and i don't necessarily disagree
    and you could make an argument that the best medicine for the struggling uribe is to put him out there every day and let him [try to] play his way out of it
    especially since he's a veteran who is well-liked/well-respected in the clubhouse
    it's just that -- with what we've seen in guerrero so far -- you'd think he'd get a spot start here or there
