    Barnes is so bad, I’m legit thinking if they trade for a backup catcher. I remember a couple years ago that Farhan talked about the importance of a backup catcher because of how many plate appearances they can get and the importance of resting your starting catcher. Barnes is close to unplayable back there right now

    Yeah, he wasn’t very good prior to 2017 so its looking more and more like 2017 was a major fluke.

    Maybe they should check in on Wil Ramos. He was on the DL recently, but it's been a good year for him in his contract year. He could push Yasmani, probably even take his spot. Rays finally have Archer available in trade talks so

    I am of the other impression.
    Bellinger has effectively lost his big cleanup hitter job to Max Muncy, Bellinger has dropped in the order.
    And with that job comes the right to start at 1B since he is not good enough defensively at other positions to unseat incumbents.
    Bellinger must now fight for playing time with Joc in CF and it is why Verdugo was sent down.
    Bellinger has to prove he can hit while playing CF and take at bats away from Joc. He will have all the at bats vs lefty starters and pinch hit or take over vs lefty relievers. Only playing 1B again vs the AL and in the World Series when Muncy can go to DH.
    This IMO makes the Dodgers better.
    For now we get the best combo of Joc hitting only vs righties which he crushes and Bellinger hitting vs lefties which he does better at while trying to learn how to hit well while playing in the OF. For now the Dodgers can afford to do this because in the World Series when it counts Bellinger will play every game at 1B and will have be able to hit how he prefers but have new skills learned in this experiment.

    The Dodgers have to do something with the lineup once Turner and Puig return.
    And Machado should be surrounded by the veteran professional hitters on the team and not the big uppercut swinging or streaky hot and cold types that go from Herman Babe Ruth to Baby Ruth Herman.

    3B: Turner
    SS: Machado
    LF: Kemp
    1B: Muncy
    CF: Joc/Bellinger
    C : Grandal/Smith
    RF: Puig/Kike
    2B: Utley/Taylor

    Next season Utley retires and Seager slots into 2B. Bellinger continues to be the 4th OF and part time 1B until either Kemp or Puig are not retained or Joc is traded.
    Verdugo is super valuable right now and should be a chip cashed to help secure this season.
    He can bring in Max Scherzer's bloated contract and along with another prospect or two also bring you Herrera.

    I know this is petty, but I wish the Dodgers would do what Atlanta and some other stadiums do with their outfield wall...transparent background on the advertisements. Dodger Stadium's wall ads are like billboards. So ugly. I get you want to sell ads, but at least make them clean.
