There hasn't been that many former Lakers @ LAL HC. Not in recent years, anyway. Just Luke and Lue. And even though Ty Lue is a former Laker, he comes from the Doc Rivers' coaching tree
Did forget about the tank commander, but he was Jim's/Mitch's hire, back when they were in control of bball operations. Byron, hired by Jim/Mitch, with low expectations for the team. Luke, hired by Jim/Mitch, with low expectations for the team. Lue, to be hired by Jeanie, with championship expectations.
L luke is literally the only former Laker example. Like since Phil, we’ve had Mike Brown, Bickerstaff as interim, Antoni, and Luke
Like Gebbeth said, there was Byron as well. But Jeanie didn't hire Byron or Luke. Hell, I'm not sure if Jeanie is making this hire since Linda Rambis reportedly has a high level of power, and then it's also being reported now that Magic may have convinced Jeanie to hire Lue yesterday or the day before when they were out at dinner. Magic is still working for the Lakers, basically. Just now with an unofficial title that gives him the freedom to tamper in peace.
Same. Lol But ultimately, Lue's the right guy for this job, so it doesn't matter. A few things have been holding this up. 1) Lue is said to want big money 2) Jeanie/Linda were worried about optics, and how it'd look if they did something to reinforce LeBron's power 3) Jeanie/Linda Rambis were also reported to have insisted that Lue hire Kurt Rambis for his coaching staff..essentially an agent to keep eyes on Lue/LeBron and whatever else We'll see what happens. Waiting to find out who the HC is going to be has basically averted fans' attention from the fact that the draft lottery is now just a week and a half away. Need to hire Lue and win Zion or Morant.
4 overtime periods in that Portland/Denver game. Wow. The only other time it's happened: 1953 65 minutes played by Jokic. Lol Boston ripped at home. Always good to see. Both Kawhi and Kyrie trailing
Kyrie's biggest accomplishment without LeBron: Beating a crippled Pacers team in round 1. Kyrie's current team's biggest accomplishment without him: Making game 7 of the ECF. Lol. Really good player. Just enjoyable considering his ego is bigger than the sun.
Oh god no. Stick his old ass in the front office or something, he (Rambis) better not be on the coaching staff.
Don't want Rambis in the FO either, but he seems to have already infiltrated the FO. Lue should definitely fight against having him on his staff. Lue wants Thibs as his lead assistant. At least Thibs has had great success as a top assistant. If they get Thibs on board, LAL will probably be a top option for Taj Gibson in free agency. Gibson in, Javale out..let that dumb MF play elsewhere next season
Fuck. The Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans discussed a trade package leading to the trade deadline involving Anthony Davis. One of the centerpieces of the deal would have been Brandon Ingram, who has since been diagnosed with a blood clot. "I've spoken to people within the Pelicans' organization and they admitted that package was pretty attractive, but they also admitted it looks a lot different now when considering Ingram than it did back then," said Dave McMenamin on Adrian Wojnarowski's podcast.
Kyrie gonna be gone. Celts arent gonna give up Tatum or brown for a possible rental. So the question is, where do they trade him too and what team would be willing to take him on as a possible rental?
It will all be worth it if the Lakers sign Kawhi this summer and trade Kuzma, Hart, Wagner and two 1st round picks for Anthony Davis. PG: Lonzo, Caruso SG: Kawhi, Bullock SF: Ingram, Lance PF: LeBron, Williams C : Davis, Muscala Not bad.
