Celtics have their scapegoat that's conveniently heading for free agency. So they'll convince themselves that Kyrie's the problem. Forget the fact that Stevens failed to get through to Kyrie..Stevens the genius. Forget that Ainge is the one who targeted Kyrie. The same Ainge who stuck his nose in LAL's business with the Pelicans and ended up disrupting the Celtics' chemistry with AD trade rumors of his own making. The same Ainge that hasn't gotten it done outside of McHale gift-wrapping Garnett for him and that team winning it all in their 1st year. Ainge is so overrated..but better than having Jeanie and Linda fuckin Rambis making decisions
A lot of people shit on Phil's accomplishments because of the elite talent he got to coach but managing egos is a very underrated quality in a coach and it seems that Stevens is very weak in that department. Celtics were smelling like roses a year ago, but their young guys regressed a good bit this year in terms of productivity and they're pointing at Kyrie as blame. To me, the young guys don't have as high a ceiling as they originally thought and letting go of Kyrie is only going to put Boston in a worse position for the future. Whatever Tatum & Brown become, it won't be nearly as good as Kyrie. Stevens really enjoyed the Butler like ride last year where he got to coach a team with 0 expectations and play the underdog role. I don't think he's capable of handling the egos of the top tier players and keeping them satisfied.
That is why they should build around young wings and add in veteran bigs like they have with Horford. Probably a good fit for Marc Gasol.
Yup, Stevens can't handle top tier talents and Boston doesn't land top tier talents. Not in free agency, anyway. They've done their work mainly through trades and the draft. They won't be winning many championships..same as the last 30 years. A bunch of hype. They're almost as low as the Clippers without that giftwrapped KG trade..in which LAL was again fucked because Dr. Buss had an agreement on a KG trade that would have teamed him with Kobe. We weaved and got Pau instead and still made good, but I think Kobe/KG could have been even better. Fuck it. It's funny. This BS with Jeanie and Linda Rambis might have actually turned LeBron into a victim. Might have totally spun the narrative heading into free agency, as in what star is willing to help LeBron with this trainwreck situation at the top..someone, anyone. We have a better chance to land a major FA than Boston does. I know that. Boston is going to have to hit the trade market to find a star, as usual. And good luck to them with that because Hayward is the most overpaid player this side of Kyle Lowry
Ouch. Oh yeah that SOB could definitely play. Made an all star team at least once and scored in the high teens a handful of years as I recall. Ainge having had a heart attack last week, there was a joke to go with your " heartbroken " comment, but I passed Lol
It’s obvious Jeannie Buss doesn’t know what she’s doing anymore than Jimmy Buss. She should be begging for Jerry West to come back or at least his son, but it doesn’t seem she wants to pull the trigger on that possibility. Call it stubbornness or stupidity, but that seems like the only option that would make it look like the Lakers finally have their crap together. The problem is the clock is ticking. She has to make a smart, thought out, decision that also makes a splash. It’s looking grim right now.
Or perhaps Kyrie is part of the problem. Seems like he's hard to please. Shortly after I posted the above, I read this..... https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...t-turns-out-he-was-bostons-problem-all-along/
I wouldn’t have given him a 5 year deal also, but it is a sign how potential hires are looking at this situation and thinking they have the leverage. Desperation is detectable. So how are the other potential hires thinking? You are left with a pool of also desperate coach hires that will take a shorter deal.
Both Luke and Monty Williams scored 5 year deals with lesser credentials than Lue. Jeanie better put her money where her mouth is
Of course Kyrie is part of the problem there. Part of the problem. When I say he's going to be the scapegoat I mean he's going to take every bit of the blame.
The team was actually in a better spot with Jim Buss @ prez because at least Kupchak was around. Kupchak could reach out to his mentor West and pick his brain. At best, the jury is out on Pelinka. Why people are freaking out over house Rambis and their presence. Next we're going to hear about the Rambis bunch taking trade calls and negotiating trade terms because opposing teams won't work with Pelinka. Ready yourself.
Rambis is now the team president it looks like. Jeannie is definitely worse than Jim Buss. Jim stocked the pantry with a lot of young talent. Before that they had been screwed by the league for KG and then Chris Paul. He wasted the end of Kobe in order to provide a next generation of players which could be viewed in hindsight as the smart thing to do. Jeannie rewarded Kobe with more cap space money while he was a shadow of his former self which was roundly viewed as not smart. Jeannie has traded away a quarter of those young players for meh returns. The Deng/Mozgov deals are a weird thing and it may have been that the leagues new rules confused Jim/Kup or that it was a league trick to fuck them so the more favoried Jeannie could take over or that Jim knew he was about to get canned and did it as a fuck you to his backstabbing sister. Who knows? Jerry West should be given 5% of the team and made president of operations with his son and the younger Buss boys as the main front office executives learning directly from the master. But that wont happen. Because this is Kobestan territory.
Lol And now fans have organized a protest to be outside of Staples tomorrow. #optics The chants are even listed. " No Rambis " " Sell the team " among them
Lakers are like an honorary playoff team right now. They get as much or more air time as any team in any sport. Every. Single. Fuckin. Day. Lol
Reported just now that the Rambis bunch is interviewing Frank Vogel today and Pelinka didn't even know it. Lol Shameless
LeRecruitment. LeBron reportedly made a visit to see Kawhi during this series VS Philly. Only chance rests with LeBron's recruiting
