I wasnt in the room when the deal went down I can only guess but I believe Konerko was traded only because we needed Shaw and the Reds saw something or just took a shot. The fact that Konerko was traded again to the Sox proves at least in my mind that they took a shot and missed like us. It happens.

Note: Fedex is up to .332

Think about it though. We won't trade our top 3 guys for starting pitching, but back then, we traded our #1 prospect, former 1st round pick, and minor league player of the year after only 120 or so major league ABs for a reliever. Just because the Reds whiffed on him too doesn't change the fact we gave up on him way too fast, and I have no doubt in my mind it had something to do with the recent failures of dodger prospects up to that point.

Aaron Rodgers in the NFL is the best example of this. He fell because his predecessors were all busts. That didn't work out so well for all those teams that passed on him.

Joc hit 22 HRs in a very pitcher friendly Jacksonville just the year prior, so optimism about his power isn't unreasonable at all

^ The AA affiliate has been Chattanooga for more than 5 years now.

On an unrelated note, tonight is the second to last start for Urias.

    He did it!

Joc is the first to 30-30 in the PCL since 1934.

Seager was 3/5 and got his staggering 48th double.

    Urias:

    5 1/3IP, 2H, 0R, 3BB and 9Ks.

Wasn't as sharp as his last few starts, but still very good, touched 95 at least a few times.

    EDIT: Perhaps not.

Leaves with 2 runners on in the 6th, gave up a hit and walk, also got a strikeout.

Close the book on Urias, see line above.

He would still be eligible for the preseason list unless he accumulates 130 ABs in september, not likely. I'll buy Seager and Urias in the top 10, but you just don't see OFs with somewhat limited tools like Joc in the top 10, look at Tavares and Buxton, both have multiple tools that are 60's and 70's.

Keep in mind he may have plus tools but neither has plus plus potential. The ceiling will limit his ranking.
Buxton, Tavares etc have superstar potential. Joc does not

Yeah, I think he'll be a "very good" player but not a "great" player... but that's fine with me

With OF you do, because it's not a premium position, SS and 3B get more wiggle room because those are premium positions. Do you notice that their are only 2 OFs in the top 30 now that Tavares has graduated?
