I see Dodgers fans upset at Max for that statement but I love it. The first time a player has really called out Dave and a star on top of it. Dave deserves endless criticism

@JeffPassan Superutilityman Chris Taylor and the Los Angeles Dodgers are making progress on a deal, sources familiar with the situation tell ESPN. It’s expected to be completed today.

we gave $7M to a far inferior hudson, so knebel would have easily been worth the extra $3M

    Screwing the pooch much ?
Love the Scherzer call out of this over rated sack of shit moron Roberts. About time someone spoke the deal real with this sham.
Idk...the only thing that might save this off season is Freeman...that would be nice.

I don’t know why you think that was Doc’s decision. He’s following Fraudman’s playbook. He’s a puppet, and we all know he is
Regardless of that, Everything Scherzer said about that situation was full of shit and inaccurate

    totally agree
max was deflecting and making excuses
if he was wanting to be worked harder then he should have said so like any ass master
now if corey was to say his lack of leadership entered into the decision to leave beyond the taxes well...
    he'd be my hero forever

There may be validity to your response, indeed. I admit, that any anti info about Roberts is corralled by me as written in stone, because I do feel, as the Max post season breakdown occurred, it was Roberts cultivation all the way...A to Z. Not inaccurate, just Max's take on it.
However, the possibility of Max using him as the cause, could be totally or partially a ploy.
...and whether it is or not, it worked fucking spectacularly, since his new contract is history making.
Whether or not it made a difference on us keeping Max or not, I don't know. I tend not to think he was ever staying.
Hasn't even Roberts publicly admitted his mishandling of the pitching staff in the post ? Max was sure front and center, or totally missing in that shit show, in my book.
I just believe with the teams assembled for him during his tenure, with the Covid Championship as the sum of it, Roberts is as minimal results as it gets.

I gotta say something about Scherzer’s statements.

First, I loathe Roberts as a manager. He makes me pine for Mattingly sometimes, and that’s bad.

Second, Roberts severely mismanaged the entire pitching staff in the playoffs. There is really no doubt about it.

BUT, if Scherzer is saying that the Dodgers mismanaged his pitch count, that the restraint on the pitch count prior to the playoffs reduced his ability to pitch in the playoffs, then that is full on BULLSH*T.

If anyone has any power over pitch count and how long Scherzer would stay in a game, it’s Scherzer, and maybe more than any other pitcher in the league. He is infamous for telling off managers who try to pull him from a game. After Randy Johnson retired, I can’t think of a bigger red-ass than Scherzer. He was fully in control of when he went and how he pitched.

Also, I have never heard of a case of dead arms because of too few pitches thrown during the regular season. If there was dead arm bad enough for Scherzer not to go, that is Scherzer’s call. For someone who is 37-38, I don’t think more pitches would have lessoned the chance for dead arm. Or just pitch simulated games on non-starting nights then. This whole pitch count is nonsense.

Finally, I see a lot of double dealing by Scherzer. He just signed an absurd contract, and it seems he is placing the blame on someone else for his inability to perform when it counted in the Atlanta series. And this was a bad sign of possible things to come. If I were the Mets, I would be worried about his long term viability. But no, it’s the Dodgers’ fault. I call BS. This is his way of preventing buyers remorse from the Mets.

Finally, Max is one of the key player reps for the CB negotiations. It’s pretty convenient and coincidental(?) that he gets this massive retirement contract just ahead of the lockout, which means other players are in limbo with respect to their situation. Of course this will affect the bread and butter, less known players, you know….the ones you are supposed to represent!

So you got your sweet deal, and everyone else will be left with the crumbs of whatever comes out of the negotiations. This is another reason I really dislike how Scherzer shat on the organization that saved him from a bad Nationals team. I just see a lot of double talk and hypocrisy.

Dude, just collect your money and smile. Don’t crap on the people you left.

i think scherzer despised roberts from the beginning, didn’t like the way he (mis)managed the staff, and made up his mind early that he wasn’t coming back
i also think the tired arm syndrome was simply an excuse to not have to pitch and risk injury
but regardless of the validity of scherzer’s remarks the other day, one thing remains undeniable… roberts is a horrible manager

I’m pretty sure if the dodgers offered 3/130 and the Mets offered a 2 year contract, that he would be a dodger right now. It never is about anything more than money for 95% of these players, I don’t blame them for it but I just wish they would all stop sugarcoating it. The him playing closer to home for 1 month in spring training, and Corey Seager knowing Chris Woodward his whole life playing parts, that is all time filling media talk that is a bunch of bullshit.
I don’t think Scherzer’s tired arm was a sign of him giving up. I think it’s a sign of his body giving up on him because he’s old as fuck. He said he was throwing every 5 days and throwing 110 pitches every start in 2019 when he had a good playoff run. Well he also pitched the second least amount of regular season innings of any full season he pitched that year.

im gonna continue to say the same thing about Roberts that I believe to be mostly true. He’s a puppet, he’s given a game plan from Friedman that he strictly follows. If you think Roberts is a horrible manager, you should probably think Friedman is a horrible manager. You can fire Roberts but the same problems will persist with the next guy they bring in. Friedman only needs and wants someone who won’t lose the clubhouse

A game plan is one thing. Most/all front offices voice their input. But what about what happens on the field; in-game situations that require quick decisions? Did Friedman call down a make Roberts pull Rich Hill in the middle of a perfect game? Does he call pitches? Does he decide who pinch hits and when?

Yeah, no. You're mad at Friedman because he didn't re-sign Scherzer and your man crush Seager. You're blaming him for Roberts ineptness, and you're hating on Taylor because he's not Corey. Your anger has made you delusional. Root for the name on the front of the jersey.

Friedman has debunked the theory that he is in control of the decisions made during a game many times
