The Nats are letting it be known, that Bryce Harper is indeed available. Now the fun begins!!

    *Disclaimer* He’s not getting traded.

The way they hyped Arroyo..same way they hyped Duffy. Both gone. Recent years suggest they're incapable of handling their business in the draft if they aren't given great draft position. Ultimately, it's led them down the path of trading for these guys that are past their primes..meanwhile, LAD rolls out a young Kike Hernandez who regularly bitch slaps their best pitcher. Smh

SFG got their championships and now they want to continue to throw big name turds into the fire to keep up interest and business. Which wouldn't be the worst ownership strategy..however, during all of this, what's happening with their farm? There has to be real work behind the curtain or it's all for nothing, and there's just nothing other than the kid they were awarded for losing 100 games last year. I mean, there's no way that they truly thought adding McCutchen and Longoria to 100 loss club would get it done.

They had their " even year " BS that they used to cling to, so I guess as far as the draft and their farm goes, it's an every 10 years thing. Lol

Duffy was never hyped. He was a lightly regarded prospect who had a nice short run with them before he was traded.

Comping Duffy to Arroyo was unfair, as Arroyo was hyped earlier. But once Duffy made it up and did a few good things with the big club, the hype was on. Full Dee Gordon hype, well, almost

But the way they talked about Duffy up here, there were fans almost in tears about trading him. See the formula for the Gnats is that all their players are far superior to anyone else in the league...until they're not. They talk so much smack.....even before their WS run.....it was and is comical and immature. Just a real sign of insecurity in a way.

LA has the stars....SF has the nerds......they still can't get over that.

And neither really deserved that much hype, but yeah, they absolutely adored Duffy up there. Gnat fans and their analysts/announcers collectively morphed into a mega- Harold Reynolds over Duffy.

They certainly can't get over how LA now has both the stars and the nerds.

Bowden reporting that the Rays are likely to trade Archer tomorrow before the deadline. There was a report earlier that the Rays are rumored to have finally seen the light and that they realize that they’re running out of time to move Archer.

There were scouts reportedly watching the Drillers in hopes of seeing Alvarez tonight, but he did not pitch. Don’t forget that the top two catching prospects in the system are there and the Rays are said to be targeting a catcher.

Archer's slider still has plenty of bite --> https://twitter.com/PitcherList/status/1023226028616024064

Granted, that was against K-machine Trumbo..stuff-wise, Archer's closer to Verlander than he is Sonny Gray.
Saw Gray a few times at different points last season, before he was moved to NYY, and his stuff was meh every time. #3 caliber stuff at best.
Not that Archer is going to blow the doors off wherever he lands, but he should fare much better than Gray.
Archer could give LAD another weak contact type of guy that could allow them to give Muncy more work at 2B

Nats have pulled back their relievers ( Herrera), however, still looking to part with elite choker Gio
Marlins are moving closer to a trade involving Ziegler, but the Cubs are not in the mix anymore
Indians, Red Sox, Dodgers and Astros have all scouted Ziegler in recent weeks.

It still appears that Chris Archer will be the biggest name traded today with the #Braves and #Brewers grinding to get him….#Dodgers #yankees #Padres #Athletics #Indians #Cubs #Cardinals have also been mentioned as having had conversations about him with #Rays

Sounds like the Braves are separating themselves from the pack for Archer. They have a stacked farm system, plus a GM that is known for overpaying to make big moves. Would not be surprised if he goes there.

ZERO chance that happens unless he is sent to AAA which I fully believe needs to be done. The FO is treading on dangerous ground with him where he looks completely broken in the box, both mechanically and mentally. Give him a month in AAA to get his confidence back up and bring him back when rosters expand, ala Yasiel Puig 2016.
