If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

Was joking but secretly hoping deep down he'd be traded for a new L screen

Personal opinion, the deadline coming and going with Logan Forsythe still being on the active roster would be a massive failure by this FO. The fact he is still on the 25-man has been frustrating, but nut hugging prospects as much as they have and not being able to move Forsythe and his contract due to that would be a total mistake.

Teams are probably asking for a package of Buehler and Ruiz to take such a POS like Logan.

Based on what the Yankees did with Headley, honestly it should cost the Dodgers at this point something like Pedro Baez and his two years of control.

It is looking like the Rays have a couple offers that they could move on. Other NL teams have been more aggressive, but Dodgers are said to be "lurking". This is my own opinion, but due to relationship with Rays FO, Friedman could have a last shot to beat the best offer. Dodgers have rumored to have been very hard after Archer since the new FO took over, so it is hard for me to see them letting him go to a team they could face in the postseason without a fight.

Maybe they feel they can fix Logie at some point and they don't want to just give guys away?
As trash as he was last season..SOB made it to the post season and hit about .300 with a .400+ OBP over about 15 games or whatever
Logie brought his hard hat with him in the post last year

Wish he was still with org, but we would not have made the Kemp trade if he was.

I think we're looking at the other deadline which is why we are quiet. I'd be extremely surprised we do something today. Losing out on Ziegler really hurt IMHO.

Yeah, that has been my thought as well, but they are banking on a lottery ticket and with just HOW BAD he has looked it makes it hard to give him a shot in case he is still fucking awful.

This is in the back of my mind as well. They may go for a power RH arm and look to nab someone at the next deadline for a reduced cost and likely have the other team pick up the salary.

LAD sending AA over to ATL as a scout to get us Kemp - wink wink
They should've sent AA over to Moreno..figure out how to get us Trout
Next year's trade deadline aka Trout-a-palooza, if Moreno knows what's good for him, get out in front of Trout's walk year..don't end up like those teams in the Maryland area with Harp/Manny

    - For the D' Backs, they have had a great deadline. They could be VERY scary the rest of the way
    - If the Rockies fail to land a corner OF, then they need to fire their GM the minute the season is over. That has been their greatest need two years in a row now and he has failed miserably thus far.

Could come down to how they feel about others. Do they bank on others being able to get the job done knowing Logie could pull it together in the nick of time like last year? Can't be all that easy

AA needs to go flirt with Matt Harvey or Sonny Gray, leave Archer to LAD
MLB should step in, launch another investigation in ATL..halt all operations Lol

I thought about this for a minute and there is one, maybe two-three guys I would be ok up in a big situation in the playoffs besides Logie. One is hurt and that is Turner, another is Kemp who can still turnaround a big time fastball and the third is Pederson as long as it is RHP. I am not sold on Machado in that moment as thus far, I have seen his swing get a little long in the bigger moments. Just so much swing and miss on this roster.

He really has to work out his problems getting on base
    .270 OBP is despicable

The sum of all our parts will get us to the postseason, as it does every year. But when the sample size shrinks, and it comes down to individual execution... You are right. There are only a couple players we can trust. I'd kill to have Christian Yelich or any of the Astros core offensive players. They rake. Seeing Yelich punish every ball in the strike zone is infuriating. Doubles machine.

Brian Kenny said it yesterday. BA is not the end all be all. Obviously. But at some point it actually does matter. We have a lot of low volume hitters. Some of them, like Bellinger, don't even make up for it with OBP or power. When you're in the .240s, you cannot be trusted. You just aren't successful often enough when you swing the bat.

We were 1 win away from winning the WS last year, though. So who knows.

He's a change of scenery guy AND getting back with Manny? COULD help Manny re-sign? The OBP is putrid.
