The signing of Cespedes.
He was the one that signed Cespedes, but it's funny how people continuously point out the Cespedes "disaster", but those same people were writing the A's name in the World Series after the deal occurred. The A's witnessed Justin Verlander shut them down in a do or die game two years a row, and went out and acquired a proven postseason ace for such a scenario. Hindsight is 20-20.
So White is a genius because of the signing of Puig?
Cause it was a terrible deal. Who trades their best power hitter?
Cespedes isn't all that great, oh well
what kind of logic is that? I'm saying he helped sign a big time power bat to a team that doesn't typically do those type of things.
And yes, Zaidi is a genius because because he went to MIT and has a PHD.
And this. He's lots of fun. But that wasn't why they lost to the Angels
So you admit a double standard but I forgot you like to pretend you are the Keith Law of this board.
Ok believe what you want, you are the insider genius.
Cause everyone that goes to MIT are brilliant and all PHD's are the smartest in the room.
No dumbshits have ever gotten into good colleges right?
What the fuck is your deal? I didn't admit to anything because there's nothing to admit. Logan White was good at his job, so was Zaidi. They both made moves to help their teams win and have been successful.
Did I do something to upset you? Because you seem awful mad.
Did you read anything about the guy before assuming he's an idiot for trading Cespedes ... when in reality meant he was a huge proponent in signing him.
Their best power hitter was Brandon Moss. Having a proven ace has a bigger impact in the playoffs than a guy swinging the bat 4 times a game.
Cespedes is typically a 3-win player. That's Andre Ethier before this year.
White enough or whatever fucking color it takes to not let the Cardinals beat the shit out of you when you've got'em with their backs to the wall.
I'm on a wait and see w this. Getting creeped out w all the moneyball talk. The depo era spooked me something serious on that concept
So all the "brains" are here now, eh?
It's like getting Werner VonBraun, Stephen Hawking, Enrico Fermi, and Robert Oppenheimer to develope what you need to wage war, and you have
Gomer Pyle as your field general.
Love it, having a front office who knows how to bargain hunt in the areas that you can (bench and bullpen) is great. By "bargain hunt" I mean find the guys who are undervalued because their plain numbers (ERA, AVG etc) are underwhelming while their peripherals (FIP, BABIP etc) are very good. This will be so different after years of Ned taking the underwhelming 35+ year old over the more talented young players.
Do people still believe Cespedes being traded doomed the A's?
I thought this wasn't ESPN.
I actually do think that. I think he was the sort of heart of that team and a force in their lineup.
People forget that they got one of the top 5 starting pitchers in baseball last year for him.
It was nice having Sandy back. Too bad the the Muslim will keep him away.
