DodgerzSeniorAdvisor @DodgerzGM Brian Wilson was so angry about being DFA'd he said he'd peel out of the parking lot at 95mph but he only got up to 89mph.
This is so great. I love how they say they wanted to strengthen the roster from the top on down and they are making sure of it by not giving innings to this guy. Fantastic
roster is almost Donnie Dum Dum proof. identify and acquire a proven 8th inning guy ( Clippard) and deal Ethier for 2 ham sandwiches ( hold the pickles). from there just keep adding quality Heisey/Barney-like depth.
I'll respond to this one actually...IDK if it's possible to be DBB proof. It may, but it's not the AL-the NL still requires some managing skills and as the FO said themselves, "BB acumen". I hope so...it's the one underlying weak link, besides any trade/acquisition that may go wrong, that could torpedo us. Big time. But as fucked up as they all were supposed to be last year, they did win 94 games. IDK if that was about Donnie though...some would say so.
no brainer from a performance standpoint takes a lot of balls to just (essentially) throw away $10MM without desperately trying to milk something out of it i'm really beginning to like our FO they're priority is to move forward (seemingly) regardless of loss/cost now i've got to create a FO group smiley...
Great point. I was actually a little worried we WOULDN'T do this because of the cost. People can nitpick all they want: the McCarthy deal was too long, Anderson is too risky for the price, etc, etc. Can't deny how fundamentally different this FO's philosophy is, though. Hard not to like what they're doing.
in shedding Kemp and saving 75M, should've been a no brainer that they take some of the savings and get some things in line..especially if they weren't gonna make a splash. and to their credit, they said that they would do just that. still part of not penny pinching and the restoration of the franchise. we're in good hands with Allstate. now, how much can they save in the Ethier deal..
I'm sorry but no roster is Donnie Dum Dum Proof. The dude is a first base coach wearing a manager's name tag Fucking Ned, McLoan and Torre. No more Gnats. No more Yankees!
They did it and I am pleasantly surprised they did, I was wrong I thought they'd give him part of the season but a space had to be cleared. Now see if we can get something for him and that would be a miracle obviously.
This makes the Brett Anderson signing seem better cause it shows they won't keep a guy slotted into a spot simply to save face or cause of salary. They'll put what they feel is the best team out there in the best spots for them. It's refreshing
