amazing when you think about it
a couple extra runs here or there would take a huge burden off the starters and pen

Schadenfreude abounding in the Giants game. Pagan had a robbed HR in his glove (would have been a ridiculous play) and dropped it over the wall. What a great feeling.

Duffy is also on the DL with an Achilles strain.

In deference to Duffy I'd rather have Posey on the D/L!!! Hell add Cueto too!!!

Here we go, Gurriel announced on Instagram that he is on his way to LA. Says "it's a surprise". My guess if he was actually going to sign anything, he wouldn't announce it like this and is probably signing some apparel contract.

He's also with LA based WMG and Adam Katz, who delivered Maeda to us, so we'll see...

He does want to sign quickly, so it would make sense if he was still holding workouts while he was trying to establish residency. I'm sure teams are also trying to get an idea of where he is off to before the trade deadline so serious suitors may try to make this happen fast. One thing this FO is pretty good at is packaged deals, I could see them promising to offer Lordes a large contract to get the ball rolling quicker.

To the latter, might make good ol' Willie Calhoun expendable if they do add Lourdes as well and Calhoun's a good chip to perhaps offer in a package for a starter like Teheran.
Teheran has #1 level stuff, but I'd say #3 level command, ultimately could wind up being a high upside #2..and if you then bring up Urias and JDL to stay at some point next year you have one hell of a young rotation going CK/Urias/Teheran/JDL/Montas.
Guys like Ryu, McCarthy, and perhaps Kazmir should he come back just get stashed or flipped for younger depth to compete with the DeJongs and Stewarts and the cycle just goes on.

The word on Lordes is that he is most likely an OF'er, but if he can continue to improve, him being the SS of the future with Seager moving to 3B would be the best thing. I like Calhoun's bat a lot, it sounds like he has legit first division starting 2B potential and I would hate to see a guy like that traded for something that the farm is currently loaded with(front of the rotation pitchers) when solid bats are at such a premium.

Definitely more desperate for offense, agree there.
I was thinking back to the talk of the younger Gurriel being more of a middle infield 2B or SS guy.
I guess Lux is probably Sept/2019, mid-2020 at the earliest, so quite a ways away to worry about him.
Where did you get today's news on Yuli Gurriel tho? From his twitter account?

He posted it on Instagram and one of the Dodgers bloggers translated it. That's why I have a feeling it is not a MLB deal, but some other sponsorship thing.

Yes he does, but I could see them passing on him. Their system is still not very good, plus Judge(one of their top prospects) has lost a lot of luster in the eyes of many. I heard some folks on MLB Network that watched him and said that they feel he profiles as a AAAA type and that's why the Yanks refuse to call him up. The thinking is they're trying to hide him to see if they can pull of a sneaky trade with him as the bait. The smart thing for them is to let a lot of their horrible contracts expire, trade away everything they can for young/high ceiling guys and build for a couple years down the road. Gourriel does not really really fit that mold as they're going to be older and slower next season.

    Lol AAAA, whoa.
Watching Judge in the spring, he looked like Giancarlo's big brother, massive
Tigers have a big fella too now in RF taking JD's place, but that kid was hitting in AAA, Moya is his name, hit his 1st MLB HR yesterday I believe, bet the Brewers wouldn't mind getting Moya
