Aggressive pursuit: Mitch to Whiteside's agent: "Jeez, I've called 18 times over the past 6 hours, how long is he going to be in the bathroom????????" Jim, Gnawing his nails and tapping his toe in the corner: "Well, what did he say?????"
Mitch is a socially awkward guy. I doubt he ever has any good experiences with FA in meetings. I bet the lack of FA has more to do with Mitch being a weirdo than anything else. Jim is also socially weird.
God, I would just love for West to come back and right the ship. It ain't happening, I know, but what a difference.
Not yet, but the narrative has flipped for sure. There's a list of about 12-15 guys, that doesn't include LeBron/Durant, that if LAL lands a couple of them we'd better do a fist pump and that's really how it's always been because it's a rebuild. Why I can't understand so many LAL fans out there saying for so long that they don't like Al Horford, I mean we would be lucky to get Al Horford. Lol But if LAL can get say Ryan Anderson and Bazemore or Biyombo and Chandler Parsons, etc., basically two starter types it should be considered a W for them. Luke just has to do his thing in the meetings that they get.
Horford would be fucking amazing at this point But we're gonna be stuck with bench players again and 25 wins Josh Jackson come on down?
No big name FA is commin to Laker Land. Dude we can't even get a meeting with Anderson or Bazemore.........its not that Cupcake and Jimbo are doing nothing, its no one wants to come play for this Cluster _ _ _ _ of an organization. We are back to the Elden Campbell/Eddie Jones days.
LOL......well enough to get them the 8th seed in the playoffs, which is basically NBA Purgatory. Not good enough to attract top FA, and not carppy enough to get good draft picks. That is where we are headed.......
I doubt it, they can still flex muscle and max out a 23 year old guy like Biyombo and do the same for Bazemore..if they choose to. If they choose to go " low level filler " again the league is eventually gonna be looking at a young squad with 4 high level lottery picks on it. Their 2017 1st rounder is Top 3 protected too
NBA purgatory more so pertains to veteran teams that that don't have enough young guys with upside that can eventually pull them out. Your Horford/Josh Smith/Joe Johnson/Hawks types, or perhaps present day Charlotte Hornets. That's what they'll be selling to Nic Batum, that all in all at the end of the day Charlotte isn't getting to the promised land without any real high upside youngsters. Kemba Walker..meh, he'll be 29 in a couple years, undersized volume scorer. Al Jefferson ( whom they don't even have right now because he's a free agent), but he's a non defender at a crucial position. Frank Kaminsky, super meh. Charlotte is a playoff team ( in the east), but their future is capped.
Howard Beck @HowardBeck Chandler Parsons is eyeing Lakers, Blazers, Grizz and Magic, per league source, and aiming for close to max money. Not going back to DAL.
Getting expensive role players is not a good idea. That is how a team gets financially handcuffed in the future. Might as well stay with the young kids and bring in projects you can turn into role players. You dont blow your wad on role players, you build them. At least not when you are a lottery team with mostly young kids.
Yeah that Chandler Parsons stuff worries me as well. His bad knees remind me of Bynums. I can see Cupcake flinching and giving him a ton of cash and then him going down 30 games in next year.
3 and 4 year terms are nothin. Case in point, it feels like Dwight left LAL for Houston just the other day, that's already done and other with. So long as they spend big on high-level/quality role players their flexibility will be fine, there will still be enough demand for these types of players on the trade market if it comes to that over the next 2/3 years, especially since salaries will continue to rise even beyond this year. That's where making moves for expiring contracts always come into play. The object right now should be to get the best players possible by any means and get some winning experience behind the young core as soon as possible. Luke doesn't have forever, nor do the young potential core players as a portion of their own value will eventually be attached to wins
Best fit for LAL in next year's draft is Harry Giles, Top 3 spec Josh Jackson is a really good one too
