Was reading a piece by Rosenthal and he mentions how Reddick has been damn bad since returning from a left thumb injury. Even our trade targets are struggling through injury :( might be something to keep in mind though

After a lot over analyzing I will think it's best to acquire a bat but still keep Puig. Not cause I think he's gonna get much better but he's better depth then Zach Walters or Toles.

Now, who knows what outfield piece is worth it though but hopefully someone flexible enough to move around or be okay with not every day playing time

It'll probably be something boring though so we might all be wasting our time!

My main point is: we get all worked up about Puig, myself included, but I don't think the Dodgers have the OF depth right now to be giving one up just cause of being tired of the dude. Of course there's always a right deal for him, if more Dodgers become consistently heathy and/or someone sees him as elite.

Reddick's numbers since coming back were overblown there by Rosenthal.
I mean if he leaves out June 28th/29th, and just goes with his numbers since the calendar turned to July Reddick's doing .250/.357/.413, .774 OPS and not the " .208 AVG with .651 OPS "
But if not Reddick, then Beltran works, or even go ahead and grab Longoria and put him in the corner for now.
Keeping Puig would be cool, just not in the lineup, shut him down and " break glass in case of emergency "

What really piqued my interest in Rosenthal's piece was the following -
"...unless the Dodgers are willing to hold their noses and acquire the Brewers' Ryan Braun -- which, according to a source, is not happening. "
So much for Braun it seems.
Wonder what it is exactly, or maybe it's a combination of things because it could very well be, multiple warts there from his contract to his age to his defense to his reputation, so maybe it's all just too much?

Logan Forsythe seems like the offensive player on the Rays the Dodgers are really linked to. Not an OF, and he's a 2B, but he's damn good.

Utley has been good but he's also 37.

Forsythe + a starter from the Rays wouldn't be bad. In fact, I could imagine them going for Forsythe, a starter and a reliever from them.

I like Forsythe, but not at 2B over Chase, Forsythe's defense at 2B is markedly less than what Chase brings.
Unless they think Chase could fall off given his age and then having Forsythe there over potentially moving Howie into 2B would be an upgrade defensively, a depth upgrade so to speak.
They really value their D up the middle [no homo], so I can't see them taking much of a step back there.

But one of the things I like about Forsythe is that he's played a little bit of everywhere in his career, so I'd love to get him, I'm sure he could handle RF, gotten starts at RF/LF/3B/1B/2B/SS
He also Ks a lot, so he'd fit right in :D
Right handed bat that pounds LHP and is about average against RHP, I could see it.
The Giants have a handful of guys like Forsythe who are just average guys, but collectively average guys who don't have big peaks and big valleys can win games.
    Solid ballplayers, non-fuck ups

Probably premature, but the info given here, begs a question...is this the "elite" we heard about?
Or can we expect something else not reported on to date?

I don't think any elite players get moved to be honest. Maybe "elite" relievers if the Yanks realize where they are in the standings

I realize George is gone, and the way he did things is too, but they are still the Steingrabbers.
I would love to get Miller, but don't hold too much hope on that..
If it is a possibilty, remote or whatever, they will want the best of our young, I believe.
    Top yutes.

This year's market doesn't have the top-level talent we usually see. ColoradoKid suggested a mid-level team might try to capitalize and become sellers, but in that case they'd be looking for a greater than normal return due to the bare market - and our FO doesn't seem like the type to overpay. We also don't have a glaring hole. We have a lot of areas where we are average and could improve, but I think ultimately we just need to ride our depth to a playoff birth (maybe division championship?) and hope we can get hot/ride Kershaw in the playoffs.

Kurkjian: Dodgers trying to trade Puig for "well over a year."

And I could see them having to wait until the off-season.
The Indians are always mentioned as a potential landing spot, but if I'm the Indians, or any other club with plans on winning this year, and I already have the magic working and we're getting it done, Puig and all his shit is a hell of a gamble to take.
I'm just not sure if dropping Puig in the middle of a winning clubhouse is a gamble worth taking.
If he goes anywhere during the season I think it'll probably be to a club that's selling, that has the patience, but those clubs could benefit from waiting until he absolutely sucks again as well.
I really could see Puig being radioactive during the season TBH, man, if he had ended up with that domestic violence label on him...
Maybe the White Sox would still have interest?

Would still much rather have Lucroy.... Grandal's numbers got a big boost due to 1 great game. He's had 3 multi hit games since May with 1 of them being that crazy 5-6 performance with 3 HR.

    Jerry Crasnick ‏@jcrasnick
#Dodgers had some interest in Jonathan Lucroy earlier this season, but it's waned. Yasmani Grandal has a 1.270 OPS with 5 HRs in July.

Grandal isn't a consistent hitter. But he shouldn't have to be. He's a catcher. We should be able to live with his defense, decent obp and pop. But we have so many other losers like Puig stinking it up.
