Haha, it's the Kuroda effect. People can't help but be positive and look at the good things, but at the end of the day he's .500.

I'm not negative on Maeda, and with that contract I think he was a great add. But our postseason rotation will look a lot better with him as a back end piece of it rather than a #2.

Gotta think that someone is looking at this deadline and going, "well if I do this, we may not be contenders this year, nor next year, but after that we could be really good" and decide to put someone on the market that could change the game. Like Pittsburgh, they're a decent team, but their pitching right now is a mess. They could move McCutchen, Freese and Melancon for an on the fly rebuild and snag back talent that will be ready to contribute when Bell, Glasnow, Meadows and Taillon should be hitting their stride along with the solid core that they already have. The same goes for the Mariners, they continue to be way up and down and their farm is abysmal. Their core doesn't seem to be working and they aren't going to have the right pieces probably for a good while. Why not try to move Cano and snag some elite talent when their are no good IF names on the market all while getting out of a contract that frankly, is just going to be a drag on your franchise as you continue to be a .500 team. Nelson Cruz could also potentially get you something good in return from you division rival Astros, who would love a big bat to go at DH. I just think that if you're a team on the cusp, but you're not there yet, this may be the best chance to take advantage of circumstance and sell high.

The guy can't hit lefty pitching at all. Seems like it would not change a big issue with the current roster construction as our "lefty mashers" of SVS, Thompson and Hernandez have not really done that this year. Would also like to see them add someone with a little more pop.

Pirates are 2.5 out of the WC while the Mariners are 5. Don't think either of them are selling at this point, hopfully something changes in 2 weeks. I would love to pick up McCutchen and Melancon at the deadline.

Could not agree with you more!!!! I see Rich Hill costing us some good prospects and him suckin the rest of the year. I'd rather try to pry Archer off of the Rays.

Puig can't hit lefty pitching either, but at least Reddick doesn't K or ground into DP against LHP much.
No one man is coming to the Dodgers and turning the lineup's ability to hit lefties around on his own, as a whole, as a group Corey/Adrian/Turner just need to turn it around, Howie and Yasmani are already doing it.

I'm with you on Rich Hill, Beane asked for Boston's top young farm arm in return for Hill, so he'd probably be asking for JDL or Holmes from LAD and that's pure comedy, neither one should be given up for an old fella with that resume and contract status.
That shit would be ridiculous, instant F grade no matter what Hill or LAD does in the win column thereafter.
Just get us Reddick and Doolittle from over there and go back to the Rays for Odorizzi.
Drop Reddick into RF for LAD and do away with Puig, not Howie.
In fact, I'd rather they just give up Puig in a deal for a quality potential rental (and a quality lefty reliever) than send away multiple young farm arms with upside like Oaks/DeJong/Stewart.
Just dip back into FA after the season and re-sign Reddick, or perhaps FA to be Cespedes can be had for a deal similar to the one he signed last off-season with the Mets, or turn RF back over to Ethier for one more year.

Point being...meh on Puig, meh on him last year, meh on him yesterday, meh on him today, meh on him tomorrow, meh to infinity and beyond.
Hell, bring up Willie Calhoun next year or let Toles Before Hoes take a corner.
Or just turn a corner over to Trayce next year.
Some are down on Trayce now, but the fact remains that he was just a rookie out there saving their asses late in ballgames this year, still upside remaining in Trayce moving forward beyond this season.
They'll have plenty of options for the corners sans Puig.
Need to get their asses out there on the trade market and turn our 7th/8th spot RF corner man into a 3 hole hitter and lengthen this lineup.

Kuroda effect! Yes... it is...I think in all the while he was with us, only once did he win over 11 games.
12 was it? In fact 11 games 2 or 3 times...at 8-7, Kenta may be right there himself.

Kuroda reached 13 wins in 2011, but he was a much better pitcher than that. Another example of why wins shouldn't be the measure of a pitcher.

On everything, and I know this isn't happening and that it's likely not even Longoria up for discussion, but if the nerds put Longoria in RF and got Puig the hell outta there I'd give them a standing applause for that too.
Yeah, I want Puig outta the lineup that bad.

Except durability. And having said that, I don't really care that much for Evan and that contract.

Longoria doesn't make any sense but it seems Friedman has an infatuation with his former Tampa players much like chip Kelly did with his ducks playing for him in philly.

I can see it now....The los Angeles dodger rays
