Good to see him working at it.. OTOH he's still a sub .250 hitter at this time and that ain't good enough for an All Star CF
.250 is ok if you get on base .350 and you can bang 25 HR while playing a pretty good CF. all star team be damned but his improvement this year is a good sign maybe he hits .270 next year and gets up to 30-35 home runs. nice!
Yeah the thing that saves Joc is his OBP which in other players is rarely +.100 above their BA Joc does really good in that area. And he's cut down on K's But ALL MLB outfielders are held to the .300 standard or they get replaced by someone who can produce the .300 Just a fact of life
Aside from the Joc adoration and adjusted high/ low bar for him because he is beloved ( I like the kid, too), he is AWOL lately at the plate. Maybe I get a alternate broadcast, but I see him pirouetting at home plate, K ing pretty frequently. It's time for him to step up to some degree of consistency, imo. Just a little...
You must have an alternate broadcast. 2015 480 AB/ 170K = .354 K/rate 2016 328 AB/ 98k = .299 K/rate. He's still striking out at a good clip, but definite improvement. And his average, slugging, and OPS are all higher.
Those numbers read really well...imagine if he could actually play against LHP, which is our Achilles heel, obviously. Most times. I guess what I see is not indicative of his true worth. And I have always loved the kid from day one. OK.
It'd be nice if he could hit LHP, for sure. But at least we face righties 70 percent of the time. He's made a huge improvement making contact. I think by age 26-27 he will reach his full potential.
another thing about joc his defense is stellar and underappreciated all one had to do was see kike butchering that ball in center last night
Idt his defense is underappreciated by anyone who is a Dodger fan. Admittedly, going back on a ball , he is way better than coming in, but he has balls as big as...uh...Bochy's head. Guy's fearless, mang.
