    on his way out there gibson noticed him on his way and yelled “do you know more about pitching than i do?!!!”
    mccarver (obviously stunned): “no”
    gibson: “then get your fat ass back behind the plate”

    years later gibson said it never happened
    mccarver still swears it did

    When I was a child growing up during the cold war a huge dodgers fan listening to vin talk about the great pitching coach and his former career as the co ace with sandy koufax who was special to me for his heritage made me always think of the image of a russian dog.
    And I would call friends perronoski for fun.
    I doubt I thought of it. I probably heard Jaime harrin try to pronounce perranoski with his soso english and thought it sounded like Russian dog.
    More like Russian bearwulf.

    have you ever been in one of those places?
    they have some really innovative products you might not expect
    but i agree its surprising
    the guy has amassed a fortune catering to the RV crowd and basically cornered that market

    if you do have an RV i guess its a given you're going to shop or have work done at the place
    i used to camp more back in the day (probably still should) and just stopped in the Valencia store on a whim
    remember this folding cup holder i bought that attached to the door of my truck and opened up for big drinks
    it was sturdy af and lasted for years in my work truck where it was used everyday
    never thought something that useful would be in a camping store and the place is packed w merchandise so i only saw a fraction
    always meant to go back but never did...
