After years of teaching Greek mythology, I'm used to kid asking, "Why would people ever believe these ridiculous stories?"

Then I see that Scarecrow makes millions to commit prison rape on a great organization all for the sake of racial optics & wokism. And then Herakles & Theseus & The Odyssey seem entirely reasonable by comparison.

had to read the iliad in college
professor kept trying to get us to debate whether it was a story or a poem
    no one cared
when i suggested it was both, he said it couldn’t be
that’s when i realized he was a fucken idiot
i should have argued with him but at that point in my life i really didn’t care
plus i just wanted to pass the class
i tried reading the iliad again a few years back and it still sucked
bunch of seafaring fkags at war, one guy steals another guy’s bkitch
    ugh

    The Iliad
is about 25 years older than The Odyasey. In that time, Homer's narrations improved. That happens. Also, Homer was one of thousands of local story teller poets in Greece and all across the ancient world. Think about the dogshit poems we never heard from then. Think about how great The Beatles and the Stones were in the 60s, Eagles in the 70s, and so on ... and how forgettable bands like the Bay City Rollers or Soft Cell or Vanilla Ice are now that we know they were pop trash.

So yeah ... that teacher sucks at teaching epic poetry... but I contextualize it ... or tried to ....

Anyway ... back to baseball ...

Scarecrow is an epically shitty manager but that blast by Outman was epic.

    See what I did there?

Glasnow was a rarity to watch. Simply fucking amazing.
So glad for James...that was a huge blast to CF.
    Also, now Ohtani stinks again.
    114 mph ? Wow.
Wonder how we got Brogdon from the Phils?
    Probably traded Buehler or/and May.

From today's Athletic article on Glasnow's effort......

Glasnow bullied the Twins by matching a career-high with 14 strikeouts while allowing just three hits over his seven scoreless innings. He didn’t even need a Pitch 101, carving through the Minnesota lineup with ruthless efficiency. Of his 88 pitches, 42 were called a strike or induced a swing-and-miss, the third-best such outing by a Dodgers starter since Statcast began tracking in 2015.

No pitcher in the pitch-tracking era (since 1988) has struck out as many batters as Glasnow did in as few pitches.

    --------------------------

Just as impressive as the Ks was the way he controlled the ball. He hit both corners and both the bottom and top of the strike zone. Granted the Twins aren't the Big Red Machine, but that was as overpowering a game as I've seen in years.

Cardinal sin, but I prefer a solo HR with a 6 run lead to a walk.

Early game today boys. Looks like we're sending out the B-team. Hopefully the top of the lineup can carry us, with Betts a career 5 for 6 against Paddack, and Miller can put his last start in the past.
