2013 Payroll Commitments By Ben Nicholson-Smith [September 4 at 10:00am CST] While teams like the Dodgers and Yankees have already committed to nine-figure payrolls in 2013, others have less than $15MM committed to the '13 roster. Cot’s Baseball Contracts has compiled each team’s payroll obligations for 2013. Here's the list, starting with the largest commitments: Dodgers, $193.8MM Phillies, $133.1MM Yankees, $119.1MM Cardinals, $92.8MM Angels, $92.3MM Tigers, $90.2MM Rangers, $84.4MM White Sox, $83.3MM Giants, $81.0MM Reds, $74.1MM Twins, $68.3MM Marlins, $67.5MM Blue Jays, $61.3MM Nationals, $58.6MM Diamondbacks, $55.0MM Mets, $54.5MM Orioles, $53.2MM Brewers, $52.4MM Rockies, $46.5MM Red Sox, $45.6MM Cubs, $41.8MM Mariners, $40.5MM Royals, $34.9MM Pirates, $27.9MM Padres, $26.0MM Athletics, $23.0MM Rays, $18.6MM Braves, $15.2MM Indians, $11MM Astros, $5.5MM Please note that these figures don't include club or vesting options or figures for players whose salaries will be determined via the arbitration process. The totals include commitments to players no longer in the organization. This is from MLBTR.com. Credit to them.
That is unreal! Am I happy about it or not? I don't know...I guess I am really. Two NL teams ate the top...Never seen that before. We are commited to $100M more than the Angels! WTF? The funny thing is, Crawford is really the only horrible contract we have. Beckett is also bad, but at least can be worth it...maybe. This doesn't include the monster deal Kershaw will get...it'll be at least $210M commited team payroll then! Awesome and terrifying at the same time.
lol, more than the yankees and reds combined more than the royals, pirates, padres, a's, rays, braves, indians, astros combined we are the evil empire west I don't care what "we" spend as long as we win
Fuck man, don't forget that dipshit monday night from the independent league, the cabbagepatch kid faced lefty.
what's that old tommy rant about (kurt bevaqua) not being able to hit water if he fell off a boat?...
This doesn't include potential and future FA signings in the off season. There aren't too many megahuge contracts out there to be had besides Hamilton and Grienke (add Swisher if you are inclined to believe what he says), so we'll probably still end up towards the top when it's all said and done.
The reason the A-Holes number is so "low" is that it only takes into account the buyout for Haren, but they will likely pick up the option, so you can tack on another $12M. Also, Pujols still isn't making the big bucks yet, made $12M this year, $16M next year. In fact, he will make $212M over the last 8 years, including $30M in 2021.
They did it because it was the only way they could sign Pujols and Wilson, who will also see a jump of about $5M in salary from '13 to '14.
But i thought they got like $3B from a TV deal? If so, then to me it would make sense to front load the money while you have it, instead of paying Pujols $30M at age 42! LMAO, that shit cracks me up...then I look at Crawford's bill...WTF?
Yerah and that's weird because that seems to be the cutoff for the other rich as fuck teams...I guess we are beyond that attitude even.
