If he hits .340 again he can play anywhere he wants. No one will argue the defensive liability side of his play but .340 buys a guy a LOT of grace... .240 or .260 not so much...
It's one thing to not be a very good SS. But this is shameful. Looked like he was improving a bit last season. But we cannot have Hanley/Kemp/and a 2B revolving door as our defense up the middle.
Well you make a good point there... When Hanley is the best Dodger defender in the middle of the field line up... wow that says something yet again.
Talking about doing a completely mechanical, slow motion spin play up the middle throwing out Trevor Cahill? lmao
Yeah, he's awful at short, but where else are we gonna put him? I guess we could put him at third and play Uribe at short, but you know Donnie or any manager for that matter would make the change in the middle of the season. In a somewhat unrelated note, I'm very excited to see how good Arruebarrena is at short.
Dee 2b Kemp lf Puig rf Hanram 3b Agon 1b Uribe ss but het replaced by rookie if he can hit mlb. Leaving Uribe to fill in at all infield spots. Either traded for decent catcher to split with Ellis. Joc in c.f. with Kemp as his relief Van slyke in relief of corners Crawford new mascot Defense improves dramatically, top of order stretched.
When do these Cuban middle infielders factor in? And how? Seems like the only way to work them in is for someone to get hurt. just a side thought. I don't think puig is gonna be very good this year. Just my gut feeling.
Looking ahead, Hanley does not have a contract next season and Dee becomes arbitration eligible, also Uribe has one year remaining. With A-Rue and Guerrero waiting, I'd say we're well positioned for what ever happens, going into 2015 season. There are several possibilities/combinations depending on future events. I like it.
Yup. Shore up defense late in year by calling up one of them ss, and joc in c.f. will transform the team defensively. Imo put Kemp near dee and ask Kemp to be more of an obp guy, he can do it. That should get his timing back quicker. Whenever my jumper felt off I would practice shooting from 3 feet away and would only accept perfect feeling in my fingers, arc on shot, clean swoosh, no rim, good form, if not I would not count it even if it went in. Same with hitting. If you are already a guy who can do this you can retrain by focusing on playing the balls to get walks. Then not only will you relearn how to spot your opportunities but the.pitcher will give you more because he will be forced to show you more strikes to try and get you. Then let Puig go wild as.that's his strength. Hanley then goes clean-up with his variety of polished high grade talent at plate. agon is first slow guy in order at 5th. Lots of agile runners for Mr consistent to knock in. Tiring out the pitcher faster and exposing his days stuff to your teammates taking mental notes.
His ability at SS is worse than Dee Gordon and now approaching Jose Offerman levels. He needs to go to 3B if we are to extend him IMO.
Aside from all the obvious shortcomings with the leather/transfer, which I spent a good portion of last year posting about (IDK if I've ever seen such an odd procedure from an IF between catch and throw), he seems a little down in the mouth and acting a bit strange, IMO. Just what I think I pick up. His body language is kinda "uninvolved" up there AB, and different from usual. Just my tuppence. Probably nothing an offensive frenzy won't cure...unless he's depressed because of the way his hair looks. That's entirely possible.
