Hey, I thought this was the no politics off topic forum! Let me steer it away from politics: I'm spending 4 days in Ireland and 4 days in Scotland. I have a pretty good idea of itenerary in Ireland, not yet in Scotland... anyone have any advice/suggestions? Especially food
She is sometimes on Around the Horn. Was part of a reality show based on Chicago Bears fans in section 26 I believe. Only see he face on the camera but when I was watching that reality show notice her cleavage.
Food? In Scotland? Man are you in the wrong place...your talking about native cuisine, right? Find an expensive Italian or French restaurant! Oh forgot! Load up and chow down on the haggis! Buwahahaha! Pretty much, England, Scotland and Ireland are places you order three breakfasts throughout the day. Just my tuppence....
Yeah I've been to England where i ate "british" food once and that was enough for me. Stuck with Indian, Italian and French after that. Not really looking for Scottish food recs, more like if anyone has eaten any good foreign food in those areas
British food mostly sucks, bangers and mash? sorry. British sausage are tasteless. Fish and chips are OK but the BEST food in London? The Indian food, hands down. Amazing curry and tandori chicken. Of course the British and Irish idea of pub food puts ours to shame. Fed the family of four in numerous pubs with pretty fair faire. Scottish haggis? yeeeeah well not so much. Maybe I haven't had the 'good' stuff. They have lots of lamb recipes too but that's never really been my thing And veal other wierd shit https://theculturetrip.com/europe/u...d/articles/16-foods-you-must-eat-in-scotland/ I've heard clapshot can be good but haven't tried any yet. Indian, Italian, French are solid choices.. Armenian can be great. In London and throughout central UK, though I haven't sampled Edinburgh.
Yeah...Zevon was cool. Considering his father was a Russian gangster, he could have gone another way. Liked his cover of Dylan's " Knock Knock Knockin' on Heaven's Door". Did you ever see the Letterman show when he was the only guest?
did you reach Edinburgh? that was one place i hope i get to see again in my lifetime epic history oozing from its pores
Yorkshire pudding is nice. And of course the mushy peas to go with the fish and chips. Was just in London last week.
Anything in particular you think is can't miss? Unfortunately I'm only in Scotland 4 days but I'm pretty good with being efficient with my time.
i think i have visited a thousand castles but Edinburgh is memorable perhaps because of its location but seriously of all the cities i have visited that one stands out as surreal its quite a drive to get there but i would stay 3 of my 4 days there if i could all of scotland is incredible and scenic but walking the streets of that city...so many writers, philosophers and scientists i just found myself in a state of awe
It is...my wife made superb Yorkshire. Simple ingredients, yet there is a definite knack to cooking it. I have to admit, the UK take a lot of grief about their cuisine, always have, but a good cut of prime rib or roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes with a good gravy, is a great traditional meal. One thing, a least the English anyway, there was always afters ( dessert) with the meal. Without fail, " what's for afters" is part of a meal, without fail. I grew up eating lots of recipes neccessitated by the war, which my mom cooked quite a bit, but faded out after time when she realized America is not rationed. Lol Not the healthiest ingredients always, but always tasted great.
An excellent song from a great singer songwriter I watched the next youtube clip of him on Letterman singing Mutineer... touching I'll watch more when I get time
visited Ireland for the first time last year (and taking the family we know there to the Dodger game tonight) and i absolutely love the homeland but Scotland is a special place for sure amazing what a brutal existence the Irish have had for centuries it was like every time a king was displaced from England he would float over and enslave the Irish oh yeah and a lot of people would die brutal deaths
