Actually, of the 4 you mentioned here, I think only Guerrier was a dumbo move from the get-go.
League was a good pitcher and very effective, and promised to be a stalwart in our pen.
Juan Pierre, although excoriated here for not taking walks enough, and having a noodle arm, knowlege which was well known well before we signed him, did exactly what he was signed to do....exactly.
And at the time, I don't think there was one person who didn't want Ethier extended...there were many posts calling for it.
But there so-o-o-o many more scrubs and clunkers from Ned, including probably the two worst in modern BB history.

    your boy Nightengale, Chiefs -

    • With the Cardinals set to host the Phillies for four games beginning tomorrow, Cole Hamels tops the list of external options to fill Wainwright’s void. Bob Nightengale of USA Today tweets the Cardinals do not have the prospects to satisfy the Phillies, but the Dodgers and Red Sox are lurking.

I sure hope that isn't going to happen.. We already have the Buster Posey rule because he doesn't know how to block a damn plate.

Wainwright shouldn't be the reasoning for this. Wainwright loves hitting so it's not on him.. Max needs to shut the hell up. This could happen with them running to the mound.. What's next golf carts taking them from the dug out to the mound..

Jesus over paid cry babies!!! Not all but mainly that asshat Scherzer. Take your millions and play the damn game!!

The DH in the NL is inevitable and it was before Wainwright's injury. Wainwright didn't twist anything, so I imagine that was just a matter of time and it just so happened to occur as he started to run out of the box.

the DH would help the Dodgers a lot so I'm cool with it for selfish reasons

    Josh Hamilton trade is official.
In other news, the Marlins designated C Jarrod Saltalamacchia for assignment.

The DH is Americanized bullshit. It's unnatural. If you pitch, you should hit. If you run offence, you should also have to defend. I just don't get it. Athleticism gets replaced with obesity. I don't want a fucking DH!

I am more of a tradition Baseball Fan if you don't know me... I like the fact that the pitcher has to hit. I know this might be a case that I and so many other fans will lose. What's going to be next after this?? Having pitch runners for players that are slow (Molina,Ortiz)... Those original players get to stay in the game but it's like having a stunt double...

This game has been great for generations and would like it to stay that way.. Now if they keep going this route they are going to want to change the game to where I won't watch anymore. I understand wanting to bring in the younger fans but that is the Parents job to.. Don't piss off the original fan...

Another thing that bugs me are people who make assumptions on why NL fans don't want the DH. I've read numerous times that old-school NL fans like the extra strategy involved... that we like double-switches and such. I don't want to speak for others, but I could give two shits if I see another double-switch in my life. Pitchers need to hit simply because it's my 9 against your 9. A pitcher is just one of the 9 guys, no different than the guy standing in RF. That's the way it's supposed to be.

Probably the best feeling for me as a fan is when my team is winning 1-0 in the bottom of the 7th, my team is batting, bases loaded with 2 outs, the pitcher's spot is up, and my team sends our pitcher up to bat because he is rolling. I love that "Fuck you, we don't care about getting another run" statement to the other team. That doesn't happen in the AL.

This is athletics and having a guy only hit is unnatural. I have the most fun at a baseball game when Kershaw or Greinke get a hit and it's always a good laugh to see Bartolo Colon swing a bat. All I ask is that the rules are the same in both leagues. I may not like it if they both go DH but at least it will be a more even playing field.
