Every time I read " NL Champions Arizona Diamondbacks" I want to projectile vomit.
Not to mention an even greater level of abhorrence of Dave Roberts than yesterday.
There's always more room it seems...

I don't get it. I keep reading that the Dodgers are focused on adding a high-leverage reliever to the roster, but they don't seem to be in on Brasier. Instead, the Yankees are most actively pursuing him. Does management know something we don't? Is he asking too much? Cause if he can put up similar numbers to last year, we're not going to find anyone better.

Meanwhile, Kike may sign with the Angels. Glad that we don't have a spot for him and happy for him if it works out that he can stay in SoCal, where he seems to put up his best numbers. Not to seem ungrateful for his past contributions, particularly in '20, but his bat just doesn't play on this roster anymore and we already have a utility player on the bench.

I read a Gnats promotional thing that claimed that with the additions of Ray, Hicks, and the Korean kid they had an offseason on par with the Dodgers. Quite the comedians, that team. Obviously they'll say anything to sell a few more tickets. Ray is a decent signing, and at 8-6 he's held his own against LAD, but he's 32 and two years past his CYA. Probably has seen his best years. Hicks is going to be used as a starter which will evidently make him this year's CY. And the Korean is apparently the second coming. At least that's what they want us to believe.

“The Dodgers seem more focused on adding a high-leverage reliever, perhaps the Red Sox’s Kenley Jansen in a trade.”

Not saying Phillips was perfect last year, but I never had thoughts of wishing bad things on him, which I can't say for Jansen and Krumbel. Why would bringing Kenley back at this point even be a possibility? Re-sign Brasier and look for other complementary pieces. Or trade for a legit closer who's not well past his prime. Jansen and his attitude would be subtraction by addition at this point.

There's no Fuck Roberts thread anymore, but I'll still say it... Fuck Roberts.

IMO, the two biggest mistakes of the Guggenheim era were not going further to re-sign Seager and extending Roberts. Honestly don't understand how a manager could lose in the divisional series to vastly inferior opponents in consecutive years of 100 and 111 wins, not to mention losing the year before after 106 wins in the conference series. And with a combined 3-10 record in those three series, not even making one of them competitive. I understand the reasons he was given the job initially, but it's beyond comprehension that they're still sticking with him. The Angels are ridiculed for wasting prime Trout/Ohtani years, but if this current team falls flat on their face again in October, we'll be the laughingstock of the baseball world for decades. I just wish Ohtani used getting a new manager as a negotiating tool. Maybe that would've worked.

Dodgers open the season on March 20 in Seoul. Two things about this:

    1. It's 8 days before the rest of the season begins. Glad to see that MLB finally got smart about this. I always thought it was a disadvantage to have to play on the other side of the globe and then a couple days later trying to pick up over here (thinking that year that the Dodgers opened in Australia).

    2. Only 49 days left for Roberts to suddenly decide he's burnt out and wants to retire. Hey, one could dream, can't he?

more likely — only 49 days until roberts decides he wants to bat shohei leadoff…

“It’s a no-brainer,” the brain-dead Dodgers manager told reporters. “Whoever hits first gets the most at bats. I’m also going to sit Will and have Barnsey hit ninth to guarantee Shoehei has runners on base when he comes up.”

Free-agent left-handed reliever Wandy Peralta in agreement with Padres on four-year, $16.5M contract with three opt-outs, sources tells me and @dennistlin. Deal is pending a physical.

three opt outs in a four yr deal
probably the only way the pads could get him to agree to sign
    but i’m sure it’ll work out well…

...and Kershaw went out for a month or so with a back injury? Didn't Greinke refuse to go as well?
