The Los Angeles Dodgers will start right-handed reliever Corey Knebel and seemingly stage a bullpen game in the opener of their National League Championship Series against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night. This presumably pushes Max Scherzer back to start Sunday's Game 2, and Walker Buehler to Game 3.
nlcs roster bruihl and phillips in mckinney and price out infielders pujols, seager, j turner, t turner outfielders betts, lux, pollock, souza if/of beaty, bellinger, taylor catchers barnes, smith starting pitchers buehler, gonsolin, scherzer, urias relief pitchers bickford, bruihl, graterol, jansen, kelly, knebel, phillips, treinen, vesia
obviously no one wanted to injuries to our starters but the for so many bullpen games during the season actually has us somewhat prepared for this scenario
so pollock instead of lux Betts, RF T Turner, 2B Seager, SS J Turner, 3B Smith, C Pujols, 1B Pollock, LF Taylor, CF Knebel, RHP
Not trying tonight be contrary, but how is this regular rest for Max on Sunday if he pitched on Thursday ? That's not regular rest to my reckoning,
Hard to find a starting pitcher that has been better than Fried has been lately. Going to be a tall task tonight but it'd be the ultimate gut punch for Atlanta if they can't grab this one. By far the biggest advantage they'll have all series. Hope the Turner duo shows up this series and stops helping the opposing team.
Finding it difficult to understand why Pollock is starting over Lux. Maybe Roberts is betting on @irish’s poll.
Knebel's effort covering home on that WP was pathetic. Not saying he could've made the out, but if you're going to concede that run, why even pretend to go home? Tio Albert - I love what he does for team chemistry, and I could see his value as a PH with runners on against a lefty, but as a starter, it's painful to watch multiple ground balls to the left side where he gets thrown out by a mile. The pen has been great so far in this game, particularly Bickford and Bruhl, but Gonsolin has to be rusty. I don't like relying on him for "bulk innings." And with that in mind, I miss Kershaw. Well specifically, a healthy Kershaw. We could've used him right about now and it would've been cool to see him build off last year's postseason success. Is Dave going to let Gonsolin hit here?
