Whenever I make posts like that - and I do it a lot - I never really mean that Roberts should get 100% of the blame. For sure if Smith, Max, and Teoscar didn't strike out with the bases full in the first they could've won. But at the same time, it was asinine for Roberts to let Kelly pitch to 8 (I think) batters that inning when 2 pitches to the first batter may have broken his bedroom window (in case you don't know the reference, it was the video of him practicing in his backyard and he was wide of the backstop and the ball went through his window). The second batter was hit by pitch. The third got on due to catcher's interference. At that point Roberts should've yanked him. In general though, I just feel that Roberts gets way too much credit for Dodger stacked teams winning divisions, though none of the blame when they get embarrassed in the playoffs - which is every year except one pandemic-shortened season. Yes, the players aren't making the necessary plays in those losses, but players come and go yet there is one common denominator and that is the manager. At some point he has to be held accountable.
