I heard it multiple times, too...it's difficult to be absolutely sure, what with when it was, but one of them was Psycho, I think. But there were others.
It was his swing that they were enamored with. He never became the true line drive hitter everyone though he would.
Don't want to add fuel to the fire, or spark-whatever...but he was considered a line drive hitter, I'm pretty sure. What I remember is , the Loney disappointment came in the lack of power they all thought he would/should have.
Loney has been gone for years... .. all things equal I'd prefer to simply forget about him... Not enough good memories to wipe away all of the disappointment so .. fuhgit about it
Its funny how a Dee Gordon thread turned into a Loney fight. Geez, I'm just glad Loney isn't here to constantly ground out.
The piece didn't say he was going to win a batting title. You are inferring that. If "they" said he was gonna win a batting title then "they" are wishful fans, not experts.
It was fans that said that back when we were posting somewhere else. That's what he was talking about. You guys were still at ESPN or whatever.
Well you read it your way, I'll read it mine then. Saying he can be like John Olerud who DID win a batting title and IIRC was pretty close to a few more possibly is the same as saying Loney can win them too. Make no mistake...many of us heard it somewhere. I never said it and never thought it, though. Honestly...what is an Expert on the matter? A former player? A manager? A sports writer? Why not a fan? Not trying to argue, I'm just curious what the differences between wishful fans and experts are.
