For some odd reason, Loney killed it in the playoffs though.

He did some damage against the Phillies also. Regular season was meh, but I'll appreciate what he did in October for us.

That slam gets so forgotten. I remember Jayson Stark writing this:

Amazingly, you could make a case that the Cubs' Octobers have gone way better than the Dodgers' Octobers -- at least lately. Since 1989, the Cubs have won seven times as many postseason games as the Dodgers (7-1). And we see that trend holding up this year, too.

The biggest reason to pick the Dodgers would be their improved, Manny-fied offense, right? Well, what does it tell you that the Cubs outscored the Dodgers over the past two months (275-250) even with Manny Ramirez, and outscored L.A. by 155 runs over the course of the season? One NL executive's description of Manny's supporting offensive cast: "Thin."

We agree. The Cubs' pitching is rested and recharged. The Dodgers need too much to go right. Cubs in four.

Fuckin Loney slammed that bitch straight up ESPN's asshole.

    and to be fair...
if loney doesn't hit that bomb we very well/likely could have lost that game, and the series
    that's how huge it was
i still remember it like it was yesterday
when he hit it i didn't think he got it
    but edmonds kept going back
i literally jumped out of my chair and screamed
and just like that, the series was over
after loney's bomb, we outscored the cubs 16-4 in the series
hey jayson stark... what was that stat you were spewing about us being outscored?
funny... but after that, i remember him picking us to beat the phils and win the world series
    guy is a fucken jinx

I just couldn't believe it went out. It was like time went so slow.

I had never seen the Dodgers really play much in the playoffs so it was a new experience and I had no idea how to react when we actually looked competitive. 2004 and 2006 was such a blur and we hardly stood a chance.

It was the first time for a lot of us seeing the Dodgers play games in cold weather undershirts, 5:37 start times, national television, and having someone like Manny Ramirez on the team. The whole thing was like a dream in 2008.

    2008 was difficult.

Seeing the Phillies beat the Rays hurt. I always look back and think that that was OUR year. We could have definitely beaten the Rays. We just couldn't ride the magic to a title. Any other times we made the NLCS or were "expected" champions, I thought we'd have a tough time with the Yankees in '09. The '13 Sox had magic on their side, although Kershaw and Grienke could have detained Ortiz. Maybe last year we could have beaten the Royals because all the Giants needed was Bumgarner and we have two pitcher better than him, but damn. '08 still breaks my heart.

Fucking Rafael Furcal and Broxton. Furcal's error in game 1 leading to Utley's game tying 2 r HR and Broxton being a huge chump in game 4 really sucked the life out of us. We looked so defeated in game 5.
