My argument would be the current guys are so bad why not play new guys. Worst case they suck as much? It also is two fold as it sends a message to the current starters. The counter would be that they expect these guys to turn it around and we are 2 games over .500, but not sure you can look at this current team and think they have any shot at beating the Mets, Cubs and Red Sox in a playoff run, even with the crazy randomness of the playoffs.
You may be 100% correct...but damn...that, if true, is one fucking depressing scenario. By that time, after the "treading" do you believe anyone will want to be a Dodger? We got some lukewarm/ flat out refusals this offseason from players, and that was after three consecutive NLW championships. By 2018, and going into 30 with nothing, idk how players like you mentioned would want to be on the LAD.
In total agreement, really can't wait to see what they do once Ethier and SVS are back along with Trayce and Joc because Puig really should be ass out here and on the bench or gone altogether. Maybe they can cook something up and find another young guy like Trayce out there, but for 3B, using Puig as a chip to find some cheap, under-appreciated talent at the spot? Or maybe flip Puig to the Halos for an older/cheaper Escobar? Maybe Moreno would like the upside of Puig and Trout? AF brought Escobar to TB for a couple years...
I think what's equally annoying about the plan is it seems like it wasn't really necessary. We could have fielded a much better team for this season without doing anything other than spending money.

would be one thing if we had great starters and no offense or no offense but a productive offense or even average offense and starters but a shut down bullpen but we've got shitty starters [less kershaw], a shitty offense, and a shitty bullpen [less kenley] i seriously doubt we catch the giants at any point this season and this fo clearly doesn't care
I'd think LA would riot if Puig were traded for a player as unheralded as Yunel, but honestly why would any team give up anything better.
