So I was at a music festival today and kept checking my phone for score updates. When I saw we lost in 11, I immediately thought, I bet we didn't even have Phillips at the end because the brain deficient manager burned him in a 10-0 game. Just checked the box score when I got home, and sure enough. David the Dimwitted strikes again.
^^^^^ Yeah, this is rattling around in my head too. I can't help thinking about being eliminated in the first round. Given our manager, the roster and the shape it's in, and let's face it, the well established loser history. I thought perhaps, for a brief moment, that the grit of this belabored club was a spark that would carry it to an ultimate championship... a la 1988 Dodgers. And it does have grit. We'll all see, and maybe the huge weaknesses will abate in the playoffs. But getting thoroughly crushed by the true power teams like Atlanta, and outplayed and outmanaged by the lower echilon teams like the Nats, does not portend well. I guess this is what comes with being a Dodger fan, it's on a mitochondrial level. In the DNA. Always has been, even when I was a kid. Even when the lineup was packed with Hall of Fame ballplayers...it's just the way it is.
Yeah, it was a tactical and strategic glaring error that certainly came back to haunt us. What would the difference really have been to treat that laugher like it should have been, and let, say, Victor Gonzalez finish up ? To lose a game like that to a WP, after fighting back so well, is the legacy of Dave Roberts. Would've been nice to have Phillips in there in the 11th, but asi es la vida con Roberts.
Two observations: 1) Max is right where he should be...DH. I understand this is only possible with JD sitting. But yeah, DH. 2) I wish we still had Kelbert Ruiz. Uh huh... still.
Damn...you had to bring up the possibility of drug- aided performance enhancement ? Just when I was starting to believe I was still a naturally great cocksman...
Men.on base everywhere, and yet it's a 4-2 game against one of the worst pitchers on one of the worst teams in MLB. It's hard to at look them and see success if there are RISP against post season pitching when they're this anemic against Trevor Williams. For me, that's a stone cold fact.
i said this earlier but now realize it was too harsh i apologize to del harris roberts is to the dodgers what joe biden is to the united states
