Normally, given where we are in the standings - our big division lead + our big deficit from the top seed, I'd say Mookie's injury doesn't matter. As long as he's fully healed come the playoffs, that's all that's important. But not this year. Because I have no confidence that The Scarecrow is going to manage this team past all its shortcomings. If he can't guide them to a championship when fully stacked and the overall favorite, how is he going to do it with all the holes in the roster? So this injury does matter. It will seriously hurt Mookie's MVP bid. Yes, this unfortunately is not the season to set aside personal accomplishments for the good of the team.
Outstanding effort by the pen - 4 2/3 perfect innings. I don't understand why Roberts continues to trust Vesia with more than 3 outs, but he got it done today. Would like to see the team strand fewer runners. All season they've been efficient, except it feels like they're slipping lately. Sheehan has potential for sure, but I don't think he's quite ready for this level yet.
notice Sheehan has a bit of a curious George swagger off the mound or something not that there's anything wrong with that... i think he and Grove are on a similar arc in development which is very good those guys have to fit in behind Miller, Pepiot, Stone imo
Welcome back, JD. Good news on Mookie. The way 2023 has gone I expected the worst. Nice to have Taylor on a heater to take his place at the top of the lineup. Watching Rojas play his position is a pleasure. Best I've seen at SS for our boys since Izturis. Hitting better lately, too.
been meaning to say something about Rojas for a while and glad you did guy reminds me of a Bill Russell type hitter cause his few hits seem to include some fairly timely ones in there and in the field its just a given when the balls hit to the left side he's going to make the play and make it look easy think he's had a lot to do w how well Rosario and Mookie have looked at second and haven't missed his mound visits etc. can't underestimate how he's solidified the squad and once again a brilliant pickup and perfect fit by the FO hard to make the transition from Seager and TT but he fits this team atm
