WAR leaders: Grandal, Utley, and Kemp, just as expected. On the other end of things, Jansen is at -0.4 with an 8.15 FIP. We’d basically be in first place if Kenley had not completely imploded. It just goes to show you how fragile things ultimately are year to year.
I love that tool Makita...always want to see him out there when we play SD. I hope the genii don't intend on Choke Jansen closing until the trading deadline...we'll be toast by then. A closer that sucks will drain the whole team of stamina and overuse, top to bottom, offensively and defensively. No one knows who can slide into that role (effectively), but Jansen has mechanics/command problems extraordinaire. The great asset now a gaping liability...smh. The Wood velocity, imo, is very concerning. Although he did fine against SD, idk if that plays against a stacked offensive team, i.e. AZ or CO. He needs mad movement on his pitches, which he had last night. I thought Dave did a nice job last night.
