It's time for Will Smith to get a hit. Today.
    There...I've said it.
Just for kicks...I know some part of the pitching staff will completely collapse in the end.
But just for kicks...on the road.
Like Sal Paradise and Dean Moriarity.

I think it quite unfair that the Dave Roberts guy never gets a rest. Except when his kid graduates or something.
    Really unfair.

Andre Jackson with metal balls on the end of his braids...same hairstyle as ancient Hibernian warriors.
Most likely a different color though.
Too bad Rube isn't here. I'd enjoy his comments on this.

Every once in a while I think about the hilarious Dodger Stadium renovation rendering Orel came up with when he was trying to buy the team.

Bobby Miller being the 2nd most trusted starter on the Dodgers was not on my bingo card

Awesome start by Miller yesterday. I'm sure the expectation when he was brought up was a couple starts and he would be sent back down. I love that he's taking that decision out of their hands.

It sucks that Julio is not ready to return today as planned. Got to say though, I don't get the "bullpen game" decision. Why tax the pen any more than Roberts already has? Why not bring Erlin up to eat some innings? Not that he's a great option, but at least it keeps the reliever arms fresher for when they're most needed. And they've clearly demonstrated recently the need to be kept fresh. Why even sign the guy if they're not going to use him in a scenario like this?

Roberts hasn't taxed the pen. A bunch of ineffective starters have.

That said, bringing up another innings eater (like Jackson) would be a good idea.

    Jackson did superbly.
Starters lately have reminded me of the B movie that played with main flick with a double feature when I was a kid.
It's kinda like you wrote about no runners being thrown out by our catchers, because of pitcher inability to hold them...with a guy like Syndergard, what chance does either catcher really have? Shameful for an experienced MLB pitcher,.imo.
It seems to me all the rule changes have been to help the offense, definitely. And all the pressure is on tbe pitching.
Considering the umpiring level, and the rest of the defensive squeezes, I think there will be a pitcher in the not to distant future who has a nervous breakdown on the mound, in front of thousands.
Its almost been to that level before just from crowd noise...to a Dodger pitcher, too, back in the day.
    Poor Bert Hooton.
And he was a damn good pitcher.

Watched a special on the Dodger channel on the '63 Series.

Dodgers used four (yes four) pitchers in the four game sweep. Two complete games from Sandy, another for Big D. Podres went 8.1 in Game 2. Perranoski got the final two outs.

    Oh the horror.

They were iron men compared to the rosters now...like supermen, really.
It seems the antithesis of what it should be with medical technologies and training aids.
    A mystery really.
