Don't have a great feeling about this series. Kazmir and Wood are the prototypical pitchers that gets shelled at Coors as soft tossers that rely on movement get crushed. The same goes for Maeda, but he has the added effect of never playing here before which always makes things a bit tougher. I hope I am wrong, but this could be a tough weekend.
They have raised the fences in right center, which is a nice start, but next they need to do the same in LF. The move is going to cut down on a lot of the cheapy home runs that are doubles everywhere else. I know everyone hates it here, but I am glad that ownership is at least trying to fix the issue instead of other places that tend to embrace their differences. A higher fence in LF and probably an extra 3-4 feet in CF should be the next step. They have done a great job of building up pitching in the organization, I would not be shocked to see them try to protect it.
Would you call Johnny Cueto the "n" word? I feel the same way about the term slope. It's a derogatory and insulting term about the appearance of an entire race. Would you call him a Mongoloid? Is there a reason to call an Asian player that? Especially someone on your own team?
Not trying too be hard on you Irish....but for me, the term Slope...has alot of really really bad connotations, death, torture, massacre, rape, dehumanization...which is always the first step for justifying doing anything to anyone.
It's not the park, it is the altitude. Ball gonna carry no matter what. Park is one of the 2-3 biggest in MLB
Cueto is the "b" word, btw. I don't know if Asians use "slope" in their vernacular; I doubt it. I guess if you don't use a term at all, there is a chance that it could be deleted (as a derrogatory term) eventually. I believe that. If you never hear it any more, good chance it will disappear from the language usage. It is killed in essence, not kept alive. That's why, as we all so carefully write "N" word, why do black guys use it commonly every fucking day, many times, when talking or writing, even right here on this site? I know what the programmed response is, because I have asked blacks why they do use it, so often, so much. It's practically a challenge. All hearing or reading the word "niggaz" does, all the time, whatever the revised spelling is, whether your black or not, is keep it alive in the conscienceness. People don't use "wop" any more when describing Italians, and "mick" is out to describe the Irish. When's the last time you heard "spic"? Gotta go know and meet my polock gf...
I'm just protective of the place. I love living here and the park really is a great place to attend a game. It is just one of those places where it's gonna be a problem if your team is not built for this stadium. The Mets (besides just having a great rotation period) have the perfect style rotation for this environment. Guys that can throw and locate gas are going to have the best success here. So with a rotation built like that, you are in good shape when you come here. A rotation built around movement is going to always struggle, and that is what we have right now. Though that should change in a couple years when the rotation is built around the likes of Urias, Alvarez and Holmes. Our rotation is solid, but this is a place where it certainly won't feel that way. You will notice that besides De La Rosa, the Rockies have a lot of hard throwers now and management is finally figuring out what works best here. One saving grace is our LH heavy line up that should help against the 3 hard throwing righties facing them.
