I know we're all pessimistic but baseball is being played so have at it, you miserable bastards. PM for links cuz y'all know I'm a master at finding em.
this thread would have been a lot more active had the front officeownership actually tried to improve the team...
I think he just threw it on a cross up. Looked good, but Martin was sitting FB and moved the glove too much.
Ryu adding a capable slider would be huge. His curve was garbage in the playoffs and maybe having something else he could throw a bit harder in that cold woulda changed some of the outcomes.
Rios getting the start at 3rd today, he made two really nice plays there yesterday. Swing still looks long, but if he figures out 3B, he become's a very interesting prospect.
It needs to be a capable pitch to do anything, but widening his repertoire could make his 2019 numbers a bit closer to 2018 than most projections have him at.
oh, agreed can't just be a get me over pitch but if he could make it a viable option, and put another thought/doubt in hitters mind...
This pitcher is missing all over the place, Pollock getting out of that unscathed is actually somewhat important. Pollock is similar to Turner in approach and I don't like the idea of this guy trying to work the inner half on either right now.
What they said about him yesterday was interesting in that he has been working with the new hitting department since the trade to try and generate more line drives.
A bad slider is a BP fastball. Can't just throw a slider for the sake of adding another pitch (not saying that's what he's doing).
Going back to yesterday as well, Matt Beatty looked really impressive. Loved his approach at the plate and I have heard that a lot of folks really like his potential. He is older and coming off an injury plagued season, but we could see him a bit this season. He is a utility guy with not a ton of pop, but he puts the ball in play.
Love verdugo's ability to make contact. I have yet to see him square many balls up though at the major league or spring training level. I think the guy is mentally exhausted with this organization not giving him a chance.
