Hairston admits to lingering shoulder discomfort
    By Ken Gurnick / MLB.com | 03/24/12 6:54 PM ET

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Dodgers infielder Jerry Hairston, signed to a two-year, $6 million contract during the offseason, revealed to the club Saturday that he's been playing with a right shoulder still injured from last year's playoffs.

Hairston, who has five throwing errors in 10 games, said he was examined by Dr. Neal ElAttrache after batting practice Saturday, had anti-inflammatory medication prescribed and said that doctors expect him back on the field as soon as Sunday.

"I'm definitely relieved," he said. "Structurally, everything is healed."

Hairston said his shoulder -- badly jammed on a head-first slide into first base as the Brewers were being eliminated from the playoffs -- was cleared during the presigning physical exam, and he thought it was healed after an offseason of therapy, but when Spring Training started, the pain returned.

Hairston has video of the play on his iPad and showed what happened.

"I tried to keep it under wraps," he said. "It was the last game of the playoffs, and I injured it really bad. It's been tough. I want to play no matter what. But today, I told Donnie [manager Don Mattingly]. The first two weeks of Spring Training were tough. Now it doesn't hurt, but in my mind sometimes, I try to protect it. I have to get the inflammation out so I can just go out and play.

"The Dodgers were aware [at the time of the signing]. I have a strong right arm. Obviously, hitting's not a problem [.324 this spring]. Everything in there is stable. I've just got to get over a little hurdle. I'm glad there's 10 days left before the season so I can clear my head and get it right where it needs to be."

Mattingly said Hairston on Friday mentioned that he had trouble with his throwing motion "at a certain point, he felt it got stuck there. You have to be a little concerned."

Think Ned would have learned from Schmidt. Can't wait to be freed from that knobcheese-eating moron. Pray he leaves with Frank.

There was no fucking excuse for it then, and there's no excuse for it now. Dodger fans should feel hoodwinked and bamboozled once again. it's blatant incompetence, and the fault lies directly with Ned Colletti. I'm gobsmacked that I'm reading this same Bullshit again.
I proudly say that I would like to smack this cretin Colletti in the mouth...violence works for me in this case.
Fucking useless pile of pig shit.

    Two hilarious things with this:
    1) Huge ass article about Conte trying to reinvent being a health dude (he's a step above the head trainer) cause of some formulas he has to try to predict injuries or show who easily has them. Umm, ok
    2) Even if he had slight discomfort, I really wouldn't care if we had him. But a guy with slight discomfort or wtv and then to get the biggest contract in his career? Makes sense

Hilarious thing is that this exact paragraph could be said with about 90% of Ned's moves. (The other 10% probably being attributed to some luck he ran himself into)

So true...but this is Schmidt revisited, IMO. Not for the huge bucks like JS got , of course, but the same modus operandi that happened with that useless ex-Giant. After Jones became another abomination as a bookend to him (odd how the Braves stayed away--duh-h-h), and now this clown, it's just too infuriating...even disrespectful to Dodger fans. How fucking stupid does he consider us all?
Plus I had just seen a commercial with music from one of my favorite movies, using one of my favorite songs, sung by one of my absolute favorite singers....all in a diity about the Angels first baseman....Now that's depressing. Maddening.
I there no peace for the likes of us ?

Aaron Miles at $1M (I'm guessing that is what he would get) for 1 year>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Hairston for $6M for 2 years

Perhaps this is a precursor of Hairston going on the dl and opening a roster spot. Lots of decisions to be made and off season acquisitions are blocking some young players who had a very good. Do we keep Sellers or risk losing him? What about Uribe? New owner may judge Ned as much by the off season and spring roster moves as much as anything. They won't be happy if we lose young talent and they won't be happy if they have to eat salary. Hmmmm Ned may be screwed either way! Oh well guess we will just need a new GM!
