    I'd agree that Al Oliver is a better option but for crying out loud he only played 35 games in one partial season so it doesn't seem right to use him either. If Wilson is going to get the nod for thread closing he better have a few more good outings... and bean at least one vaGiant before the thread close.

    Another magic number for the Dodgers is 13, the same amount of games AZ was behind as was the Giants were when the Bums gave it up. When they started a September losing streak.
    Oh, way back when in the day that was...it could never happen again. Ancient history stuff.

    13.5, I hope you are only allowed to use plastic cutlery. Occasionally they are gonna lose games, even consecutive games, hard to fathom, I know.

    and yet, the same thing actually has happened before
    unlikely, sure... but there is precedent, as bz alluded
    and that "no real losing streak" you refer to could very well go to 4, with none other than the 2nd place d-bags waiting to play us 7 of the next 11 games
    pessimistic, perhaps... but to ignore our very own history is foolish
    not saying it will happen -- it probably (and hopefully) won't
    just saying that stranger things have happened
