I still think Lindblom would have been a good to great reliever had the FO not tried him out at SP. I hate when they've converted guys who were not good as starters in college so they were moved to the pen and then after drafting them, they try to move them back into the rotation. If I remember right, Lindblom saw a drop in avg FB by almost 4 MPH and when they tried him back in the pen, he gained like 1 MPH back. Same thing can be said for the failed Reed and Anderson experiments. Sborz was the first one that hasn't been an almost immediate disaster.

People got pissed at him for not putting up the flashy numbers anymore and ignored the continued solid play behind the plate. The coaching staff didn't help matters by not putting him in the 8 hole in the lineup and just keeping him there. There was also no way that fans could have put up with his numbers for another 3 seasons(they were bad and power was even inflated from Yankee stadium) before they saw a jump again.

The Kemp/Ethier/Loney/Broxton/Billingsley/Martin Dodgers would've gotten a ring if we were willing to trade for Halladay, Sabathia, or Lee during that time.

Gah, there was scouting report that said he had the tools to be the best pitcher of the trio with Kershaw and Billingsley. He had the hardest fastball, a curveball that was almost as dirty as CK's and a change that was a better 3rd pitch than any of the other guys had at the time. Then he got to the big leagues and couldn't throw fucking strikes. Of all the disappointments from the McCourt era farm system, he was the biggest one for me. I had always felt LaRoche was a little too small and there was noted hole in his swing that would not equate to him being the star some touted him to be. McDonald was supposed to be third piece of a 3 headed monster in the rotation that never came to fruition, that was my disappointment.

Except to get those guys, the other teams always wanted Kershaw in the deal. The big one that could have been a game changer was the rumored deal that would have landed us prime AGon in exchange for Martin and Loney at the deadline in 2009 except fucking McCourt nixed it at the last minute. If they had snagged AGon and paired him with Manny, Kemp and Ethier, that team would have been very hard to beat.

And I believe Heath Bell was rumored to be in that trade as well....he was a stud that year and could have been the guy closing out the game Broxton blew in the NLCS. The name "McCourt" just makes my stomach turn.

Yup, he was good for another 2 seasons after that as well. Bell and AGon for Martin, Loney, DeJesus, McDonald and DeWitt. Fuck, that one still freaking stings when you think about it as both Loney and Martin were not producing with the bat in any way to compete with AGon alone. Man... some of the McCourt era blunders... that trade, the Cliff Lee fall apart(though I do not know who was in that deal), Sabathia as a FA coming back and begging the club to come close to the Yanks offer(sorry @THINKBLUE you were right that he was an option, thought his FA came later), Santana for Blake, DFA'ing Werth... You could honestly point to any one of those and say "had we not done that deal, we are probably a WS team".

Kazmir is battling back and neck issues and is getting examined in LA tomorrow morning. Would be nice if it is minor, while also being the cause of his up and down outings so that the club can address it. De Leon is scheduled to pitch tonight, so he would be lined up with a start for Kazmir if he were to go down... if the team were to call him up that is.

Kazmir lol. Whining about pain and saying he went out today because he was a "competitor".

I know he is not winning any popularity contests right now, but I would not mind seeing the team try and nab Valencia from the A's. Sure he may be a bit of a DBag, but he could be a big bat down the stretch, crushes LHP, solid vs RHP and plays the 4 corners. Could drop Culberson for him.

Edit: After reading about the incident a good bit further, it does not sound like Valencia was to blame. Sounds like Butler was a total dick and I could easily see myself doing the same thing in that situation. Reactions make it seem like Butler is an asshat.

Can't speak to this incident, but all reports on Valencia are that he's a bad clubhouse guy.

All reports mean bullshit. Have you seen the latest Puig report?
Even the east coasters are calling BS on it because they know Cafardo is a huge Sox homer that makes shit up.
Valencia would be huge for us because he is one of the best L hitters in the game this season (.340 .405 .580)
    and we need that bad.
Platoon him with Reddick (or Puig) in either corner OF spot.

    For reference...
    Justin Turner .202 .305 .376
    Yasiel Puig .231 .294 .359
Josh Reddick... you dont want to know

What did "all reports" say on Puig?

They must have been bullshit, too?

But why is it that after these guys stink up the place for a time, then it all comes out that there is something physically wrong with them?
Are they fucking dolts of low intelligence? Why tf go out there and risk the team's position like that...
I guess it's over my head. But if you're a competitor, and you can't give a decent effort, then aren't you selfish asshole for going out there when you've got nothing?

I think part of it is trying to sound tough and not have people think you're a little wussy. Unfortunately, sometimes players get labeled soft if they don't play through injury but I've always thought I'd much rather a player be cautious and not play through injury cause it always ends up worse when they try to. They hurt themselves worse AND play shitty, so theres little upside other then a cute story.

How about the Dark Knight on the Mets..everybody questioned his sack, he relented, gave in, and he went out there and pitched...
and where is he now? His name isn't even mentioned anymore.

@BillShaikin Jose De Leon has 10 K's through 7 inn. He's the first OKC pitcher in the team's PCL era with 4 double-digit strikeout games in one season.

Give him a chance. DFA Anderson and make a statement.
