A day rarely goes by where someone doesn't stop me and ask me about my dog...it happened this morning as usual, and eventually I was asked what his name is...when I replied " Murphy", the guy asked me if" I named him after the Mets second baseman, because I'm a Mets fan"? My dog is 10 years old in November.
Too bad he was never trained as an attack dog...you can never tell when you might he able to use that shit.

Even with his postseason struggles I think the team does go for a front 3 of Kershaw, Greinke and Price. I know he has not done great, but like everyone has said, so had Greinke and Kershaw in the past. He'd not have to be the anchor of the rotation like he has been expected to in the past and I think that will relieve whatever pressure he has. I think he has the same issue as Kershaw, he doesn't have bad luck because he shrivels up in the moment. It looks like he too gets over amped and tries too hard so his stuff straightens out and he gets more hittable. I could see the rotation looking like Kersh, Greinke, Price, Ryu and Wood to start the season. Wood will need to turn his stuff around if he wants to continue to be a starter. He was great the past two seasons, but saw a drop in velocity this year and he got pounded for it, he needs to get that together or else I could see the team moving him into the bullpen as a top flight reliever again. As for Ryu, he too will need to show that he has what it takes to be in the regular rotation. He's been having shoulder and back issues since he came over. He's gonna have to show he has the stability to to keep it together as a starter over a 162 game season or he too could be heading to the pen. This FO isn't going to ignore the opportunity to get better, only thing that may stop them is the Cubs. They have a lot of money, a lot of really cheap players and some really bad pitching after their front 2. I expect them, the Dodgers, Giants and the Yankees to all be going hard after Price. Dodgers probably pursue the pitchers without QO's attached, Price, Cueto and Leake.

Cuban center fielder Eddy Julio Martinez‘s free agency has been surrounded by controversy, but the 20-year-old has officially signed with the Cubs, reports Baseball America’s Matt Eddy.

Scott Schebler pronounced his readiness with a power-filled September cameo. The surface numbers don’t look great for Schebler’s 2015 in Triple-A, but a peek at some advanced metrics suggest that Schebler could provide more power in the outfield corners than any left or right fielder produced in Los Angeles last season. Schebler has taken some steps forward athletically over the past season, even filling in at center field for Oklahoma City, and could be a better major leaguer than he ever was a prospect.

MOST DODGERS ROOKIE HR IN A SEASON
    Year Homers
    2015 51
    1958 46
    1960 46
    Source: STATS LLC

Here’s a comparison I’ll leave you with on Schebler: Michael Conforto is a listed 6’1, 215 lbs., a body type similar to Schebler, and put up a statcast line of 93.35-mph launch speed, 229.27-ft. average distance, 3.33-mph generated velocity, 10.68-degree launch angle, and 39.59-ft average height. Schebler’s September statcast values? A respective 92.47 mph, 228.03 ft, 3.90 mph, 10.09 deg, 39.46 ft., closely mirroring Conforto’s line. Conforto is expected to take over left field full time in 2016, might Schebler be ready to do the same?

    Barry Zito ends baseball career
    ESPN.com news services — 10 minutes ago

After 14 years in the majors, Barry Zito has walked off the mound for the final time.

Zito, who pitched for multiple years for both Bay Area teams, announced his retirement Monday in a post on The Players' Tribune.

"My baseball career has been a mirror to my life off the field, full of euphoric highs and devastating lows," Zito wrote. "I've been at the top of a rotation and the 25th man on a roster. I've started Game 1 of a World Series in one year, and I've been left off of a postseason roster in another. I've been labeled as both drastically underpaid and severely overpaid. I've been praised as a savior and deemed a curse."

Zito was a three-time All-Star and 2002 American League Cy Young Award winner with the Oakland Athletics. He parlayed that success into a seven-year, $126 million deal with the San Francisco Giants -- a contract many said he never quite lived up to, though he did start Game 1 of the Giants' 2012 World Series win.

When his Giants contract ended after the 2013 season, Zito took 2014 off to prepare for a comeback effort.

The 37-year-old Zito said last month when called up to the Athletics following a season in Triple-A that he planned to retire and turn his attention to his other love, music, and spending more time with his family.

He leaves baseball with a record of 165-143 and a 4.04 ERA.

"Beyond all of the achievements, the single thing that fulfills me today is the acceptance of myself as a worthy and valuable person, regardless of what my stature or position in the world was on a given day of my career," Zito wrote.

Information from The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Where did you pull this from? And I have to say that I was really impressed with Schebler in the time he was up. I would love to see this kid develop into a power corner OF bat.

Rather than rally the "Defend Puig to the Death" crowd, I wanted to see Schebler on the roster rather than Yasiel...put just didn't post it.Who knows? Maybe he could have gotten a hit instead of a K..or even instead of Ruggiano.
But if my aunt had balls, she would be..
    really fucked up.

    indeed
abundantly clear to almost everyone except dodger management, puig was not ready
nor should he have been expected to be
all the BP/simulated games/running/whatever cannot prepare you for real game situations
especially when he had been out so long and had such little time to prepare

wait, is dodger management an oxymoron? hmmm...:scratchchin:

From Trueblue @ SB Nation. I was impressed as well. Wouldn't bother me one bit if he were half of a corner OF platoon.

2014 SVS against LHP and 2015 Schebler against RHP would be a monster platoon, but that is asking a lot.

You never know. Think I'd rather do that than go with a couple guys who can't get around on 95+ anymore
