Umm, yeah. Some one is failing to recognize that the second part of that equation if false (ok, not false but the Dodgers have shown no proclivity whatsoever to throw dollars at late season acquisitions on a grand scale.) I guess the assumption is since they have money they will spend money, but thus far the Dodgers have not, at least for trade deadline players.

The Dodgers basically print money, and if they think they need to acquire an impact player by the time the trade deadline rolls around then they could just throw some cash into the deal to get it done. They have that ability.

    But not the inclination.

But there is a major question still out there: Do they have enough starting pitching to replace Greinke?

My answer is yes, in spades (racist, ... right?) I don't think starting pitching is even a question, at least not in my mind. There is enough depth to trot out another guy if one shows signs of failure. And to keep trotting them out there for some time. The question in my mind is still 'can they get the ball to the 9th inning'?

He was great in 2014 too. You can just about cherry pick parts of everybody's season where they weren't as good.

Let's not throw everybody under the bus because Puig is still transitioning to the longer MLB schedule.
Pretty sure you'd agree that you want him to post better than a .780 OPS in the 2nd halves of seasons going forward.

Just to tack on from what I said the other day about Casey Stern on MLB radio. He picked the Giants to win the division, D'Backs to be the first team to miss the playoffs and the two wild cards to be the Nationals and whomever is 2nd in the Central, he guessed the Cardinals. So he doesn't only have the Giants winning the division, he has the Dodgers finishing in 3rd. His hate for Saber in baseball is getting stronger and stronger with each passing day. Really can't wait for the season to start to get these guys to shut the fuck up.

I guess? But a .780 OPS "bad half" is hardly that much to be worried about.

Are you calling it a " bad half "?
I didn't, however, I do expect better from a player with that much talent.
The Puig fluff exercise is tired.
It's pretty well documented at this point that he's currently whipping himself into better shape so to stay strong throughout the much longer MLB season.
I feel it'd be helpful to the Dodgers' chances in the postseason if he could find a way to do that.
All I've seen from Puig thus far is that he can be great over 100 game stretches.

Probably not following you here...what does him picking the Giants winning (as others like Smoltz do) have to do with SABR hatred? I'm not saying he doesn't hate it, just don't get the correlation...

There was nothing dirty about that play. I've said this before, Tejeda could have stuck the ball in his pocket and walked away. Utley played hard, like he was supposed to. His job was to break up the play and he did. He didn't leave the basepath or slide out of reach of the bag, AND he was called safe. As they said in Major League 2, Tejeda was standing on the tracks and the train was coming through.

Nobody has to say that when Puig is saying it himself.

He did slide out of reach of the bag if you consider sliding past the bag being out of reach. He was out of reach of the bag at the end of the play, and would have been even farther out of reach if not for the collision with Tejada. "Dirty" is subjective, so I never had a problem with people calling it dirty. It was definitely legal though.

But I 100% agree Tejada is to blame for his broken leg, just like Buster Posey was to blame for his injury a few years back.

You don't get bad karma for the other team playing stupid. If anything we had bad karma for running complicated shifts with players who aren't used to it.
